Volleyball after commando surgery

  • Hello everyone, I joined this platform because I am searching for volleyball players who -like me-underwent the so called commando surgery. Nearly a year ago they transplanted half of my tongue with skin and an artery from my wrist (which took 9 hours). Obviously I was unable to play volleyball after that. My recovery luckily did go well and the last couple of months I started running again. Having played volleyball all my life, I wanted to try it again recently. I joined a recreational training from my old team. I was able to play set-ups surprisingly well, but - as expected- passing felt rather weird. Although I was wearing thick, long sleeves, still it was a bit uncomfortable. And now I was wondering if there are other volleyball players who underwent this surgery and have experience with e.g. braces or other ways of protecting the arm a bit. Looking forward to hearing from you!
