• robin de krijf is a talented MB.i think her attack is better than huurman, but maybe her experience is still not enough.

laura should work harder. She did not do well with the team. But i trust her.She will catch everyone's unawares.

  • This morning, episode 6 of the program 'Volleybal' was broadcasted on Dutch TV-station RTL... There are nice items about Kim Staelens/Laura Dijkema/preparation for WGP in it.

Unfortunately for you all it is - ofcourse - in Dutch language, but maybe it's nice to watch though for you ;)

    Wow! Dank je wel! ^^
Kim is what? 7 months already? But she is really in shape!

Can someone translate what Kim and Laura says? :rose: And later Chaine statements too? :rose:

Kim Staelens about her pregnancy: I’m doing physically really well at the moment, nothing to complain about! I think I won’t make it unfortunately to the WCH (end of October), time is probably too short, there is just a very small chance. Do I make it, it’s a big positive surprise for me. All I can do is try to keep in shape as good as possible; the sooner I will be back after the birth of the child.

Kim about the new, young setters (Dijkema, Blansjaar, Stoltenborg): I think it’s a good thing for us to have the girls with us. It’s a very good development for the NT’s future.

Kim about Laura Dijkema: she is doing really well, keeping in mind she has played only one year in TVC Amstelveen on highest level in Netherlands. She learns astonishing fast! Besides the fact she is very young and inexperienced, it always takes a long time (long period of training) before a team gets used to/harmonizes well with a new setter. It’s a good thing for Laura she has an experienced team around her; the other girls can help her a lot. I give her certain directions about the strong points of the team -- > the strong attack-combinations of the team.

Q: Laura, what went through your mind at the moment – February 2010 - you heard Kim was pregnant?

Laura: Well, at first I wasn’t thinking a lot about it, because I needed to stay focused on the play-offs, but later I realized I need to work really hard in upcoming time.

Q: What is in your view the most difficult thing being a setter in NT?

Laura: The most difficult thing on international level is to mislead the opponents ’block. The opponents are very good in reading what a setter is going to do. That’s something I have to work really hard on.

Avital Selinger about Laura: It’s absolutely unfair to expect Laura to take over Kim’s role in the team as if nothing have happened. Laura’s development since November 2009 – start of NT-training in Almere – is astonishing positive!

Avital Selinger about WGP: WGP is an important tournament, but it’s in fact a preparation for the main target: WCH in Japan. At WGP we will see what our position is related to the other topteams. WGP is also important because it is a way to get experience for our young players.

Chaine Staelens about WGP: I want us to work really hard. Our goal is the final round.

  • THANKS again! :flower: :flower: :flower:

I agree with what they have said, Laura needs time now, it is unfair to demand from her right now the same quality level from Kim.....time will give her what she needs...I'm very positive abaut that, and I think she has a great future! :)

And a general aspect I hope Netherland can grow each game and each day....I'll be cheering for that! :)

  • You're welcome :)

Yes, I'm happy Avital and Kim say those things about Laura; and it's nothing but the truth!!!

The daily NT-training in Almere is a great thing in my opinion. The young players learn faster by working every day with Avital.
