  • Ok latest news about Stacy, like Edu putted, today, Stacy's mom and sister arrived to São Paulo.

Stacy still is being kept under sedation but lower...she awakes for a while, then they sedated her a bit again, just so she can rest, cause she is still felling a lot of pains (witch is understandable!!), she is not talking, the doctors wants to avoid that now, but they say she repost with her eyes, everything they ask perfecly.

Also today she recognized her mom and sister with no problems, she said the name of her sister, and talked about her mom as mummy....so at first sign the impression we all have is that she is understanding everything that happens around her, she still mix a bit the words, and also the languages, words in english, portuguese and italian, but that is cause of the sedation acording to the lastest news. And she is improving day by day her conditions.

Tomorrow the doctors will finaly give a press interview in the morning (9:00 am here, 14h CET), giving their oficial statement about Stacy condition! Lets all pray for good news!!!!!

Today in semifinal game, Pinherios team enter the match with a banner for Stacy saying: "We from Pinheiros are praying for your recover. Come back soon Stacy." And also at the end of the match Fabi dedicated her MVP award to the libero. After the match she grabded the speaker microphone, to talk with the supporters, and thank eveyrone that was there in the gym, and said she dedicated the award to Stacy, and that everyone is praying for her to recover soon.

Also the site volei Brasil is collecting messages from supporters, players, and everyone from different teams to make a movie for Stacy, so she can fell everyones care.

  • Just now the hospital released their first oficial document about Stacy, in there they confirm the improvment of Stacy and say that she is now breathing on her on and do NOT show any limitation in her moviments! ^^

    The complete note says:

"The player from Volei Futuro team Stacy Denise Sykora was received at the Syrian-Lebanese Hospital in Sao Paulo, on 11/04, at 22h09, with signs of brain trauma. She underwent magnetic resonance imaging of the skull that revealed a left temporal contusion and diffuse axonal injury.

The patient, who underwent intracranial pressure and electroencephalographic monitoration, keeps hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with improvement in clinical status. Currently, she begins to breathe without the aid of equipment and shows no deficit in movement.

Medical teams that are accompanying her are coordinated by Profs. Drs. Milberto Scaff and Manoel Jacobsen.

Tomorrow (17/04) at 9.00, there will be a press conference for more clarification, in the Syrian-Lebanese Institute for Teaching and Research, located at Rua Coronel Nicolau dos Santos, 69."

The director of the Volei Futuro, Marcela Constantino said sunday that Stacy Sykora will stay until the end of his treatment in Brazil. Stacy's sister, Keri, and her mother Sherian arrived in the country on saturday from the U.S., and are following the recovery of the american libero. According to Marcela, are quite satisfied with the structure available for the player.

    - We'll follow it all the time in this initial phase of recovery. Stacy will be the time that is required on the Syrian-Lebanese until he can go home, still in Brazil. The recovery will be made here, the family is impressed with what is being done - the director said at a news conference this morning given, together with the physicians responsible for Stacy.

Stacy's mother must return to the United States later in the week, but her sister will remain in Brazil for longer. In addition, some friends of Stacy coming to the country to see the player. Athletes from the U.S. team, like Logan Tom and Alisha Glass, should arrive this week.

Keri, despite showing up shaken, confirmed his satisfaction with the treatment given to the sweeper from the start and thanked all the support and messages of support he has received.

    - A Stacy is very strong, has responded well. We'll have it back - he said.

Stacy Sykora is still in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Syrian-Lebanese Hospital. The doctors responsible for the case still do not know when she can go to the room because some tests are still to be done. But as said on Sunday, the evolution of the player is above average.

  • Stacy progressed well, but has no guaranteed returns to volleyball
Doctors show optimism about the clinical features of the libero, but do not guarantee that the player returns to play volleyball.

The doctors at the Syrian-Lebanese Hospital, responsible for the player Stacy Sykora, gave an interview on sunday morning to discuss the clinical profile of the athlete. According to Samira Apostles, a neurologist, and Manoel Jacobsen, neurosurgeon, the libero of Volleyball Future has shown an improvement over the average in recent days. Stacy arrived at the hospital on Tuesday, with a staff considered severe head injury.

However, it is not possible to say if the american, breathing without the help of machines, will return to play volleyball. According to Jacobsen, the tendency is that Stacy Sykora has not sequels, but there are no security features to ensure this.

    - When you have a disease in an acute phase can not make predictions of this type yet. But there is no evidence of sequelaein the motor area and speech. It is expected to return to being a normal person, yes. But the person is not made only of movement and balance. He also thinks. And this most refined of the neurological assessment has not been made - he said.

Samira Apostles and Manoel Jacobsen avoid talking on how long the player remains in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The doctors should perform some more tests during the week to make sure that there was no injury to the respiratory part of Stacy. For these tests, it is necessary that the libero is in full consciousness and less agitated, factors that can influence the result.

We need that system to be controlled so that it resumes its natural sustenance, feast alone and requires less care. Only this way she leave the ICU. She is conscious and responded very well to the arrival of his mother and sister. This is very positive - Samira said.

  • Stacy keeps improving...

today she started feeding by herlsef.

The doctors decided to remova the feeding tube, and now she is eatting and drinking by herself. She did in the beggining of afternoon here in Brasil, she sitted in teh bed, was able to do all movements, and ate, talking with her mom and her sister.

There is even a possibility that Stacy can go still today to a room, and leave UCI.

If not today, that must happen soon in next days. Doctors say they want to do that soon, so she can stay better, in a better enviroment.

  • Stacy is probably going for a room tomorrow! :)

She has been reacting really well to everything the doctors ask her.

I think Alisha Glass alrady in Braisl, cause yesterday Joyciha wrote in her twitter she was laughting a lot trying to speak english with Alisha. :) She sais she was needing to laught like that again.

She also said that Stacy was teh best person she ever met, that she never knew someone like her, that she really love her, and that she used to disturb her everyday. She said she teach Stacy all slang words in portuguese..hehehehe
