Artamonova played in Athenas 2004.
She was with the team but she played only a few points because she was injured.

How about Godina?
How about Godina?
she had a fight with karpol before the OG and was not called.
THat spat between karpol and godina, did it have something to do with lyuba?

Kind of...as far as I remember, Karpol payed Lyuba some money for returning to the team, then Godina said she'd come too if she gets money, but Karpol did not want to pay her
^ Are you serious? Oh my gosh! That's so hillarious!
But wait. Didn't lyuba herself have her own earlier spat with karpol?

i thought the spat between godina and karpol was after 2002 WCH when godina trying to convince karpol to call back Sokolova in the team because of the results at the WCH..
i didnt know that Lyuba just played because of money.. i thought that the Federation was pressuring/convincing Sokolova to play for Russia
I've heard that Sokolova wanted to play for Turkey, after she got married. And of course that she was paid to play for Russia again.
But I never heard anything about Godina

People says that she won an apartment from the Federation.

Karpol may seem harsh to his players but he did well to train them well and turn them into the volleyball stars we all know now. He imbued in them the strong, fighting personality which are important to winning games although this created some problems when the players he raised were under a coach with gentler personality. Example of course will be Sokolova and Gamova. The excerpt from Tomislav Birtic's book "Karpol: Lunatics - That's what I need" sums it up:
"I need self-confident women who will not admit to any greater authority than themselves, and everyone else who works with me needs to be like that too. Those around them should see them as lunatics. They must be great in the sense that they are so completely self-confident. I tell my girls if they can't settle with their husbands the details of travel arrangements, matches and competitions, they cannot be the best in the world. A woman may be tall, fast, strong but she can't win. Only when she is capable of being the boss in the family is she able to be the best in the world. I need strong people."
He certainly is one the best coaches ever although not all will agree to his methods (I remember during WGP 2000 Manila leg, Karpol was booed while he was shouting to his players XD).
Anyone knows what says here - http://www.championat.com/voll…aspolozhenii-sbornoj.html

It says that Kosheleva's injury treatment will last a week longer than it was expected initially and she will join NT as a rough guide on 23rd of June. She won't play in Eltsin cup and tournament in Italy but hopefully she will be in form for the start of OG.

Good news if true. But I don't want to raise my hopes too high. She seems to have a tendency of changing her mind every now and then. and if ever she intends to return, let's hope it doesn't complicate things and reintroduce tension. and for goodness sake, I hope she'd drop any personal issues she has with the team. The last thing Russia needs now is personal conflicts getting in the way again specially when their team play has just improved.
Please walk the talk
Not afraid of you refuse afraid of your wayward affect the morale of the team.
