2013 / 2014 Transfer News

  • Honestly Vasileva shouldn't care about money right now,she has to improve.Well i could understand if Gamova,Sheilla or Neslihan would reject these offers coz they proved themselves and almost completed their level so the only care about success and money right now but for Vasileva it's diffrent and Conegliano is one of the best places to accomplish her target.

  • Lancheras de Catano released Stephanie Holthus and signed USA OH Hannah Werth who was released by the Valencianas de Juncos. Juncos hasn't announced if they'll sign another foreigner to fill her spot but considering they're in last place and won't make the playoffs it's probably unlikely.

  • The situation in PR is very different than in other professional leagues. First, the foreign players make obscenely more than the local players, who almost all have day time job outside of volleyball. The foreign players are really the only professional players outside of a few of the top PR players. Therefore, there is a lot of pressure to produce offensively and if they don't do so, it's very common for teams to move players around and or look for a new one. When comparing to other leagues it does seem like a lot but the league is a short one and teams can't afford to let players develop like they would in another league where there are numerous opportunities for competition (Euro Cups, National Cups, National Champs, etc). There is just one shot.

  • Dutch OPP, Deborah Van Daelen, signed with Italian A2 team, Savino Del bene Scandicci Volley.

  • Hmmm so the drama surround Destinee Hooker never seems to end. It was initially reported that she would play in the match on the 29th and that she had already arrived in PR prior to that but the day of the match she did not play nor was she listed on the roster. Now according to this article on the Criollas' website, their management found out that she may have some injury and might not be fit enough to play. They wanted to initially nullify the contract but Hooker's manager (who is her father btw) and Criollas negotiated that they would sign her only if she passed a medical exam upon her arrival prior to playing. In a subsequent article here, they mention she was at the match during warmups but didn't play because her ankle was bothering her.

  • After Colombian MB Melissa Rangel went down with a serious injury a few weeks ago, Deportivo Geminis from the Peruvian League signed another Colombian MB, Cindy Ramirez.

  • Caguas released Destinee Hooker. As previously mentioned, she revealed a minor injury upon arriving on the island and made an agreement with the staff that she would be able to perform. However, they aren't happy with her current form and thus are letting her go.

Well, Hooker played only in 4 matches, including 2 as backup and I agree that her performance was so so  there is no need to keep her in roster because she would stay on bench - trio Fonoimoana-Enright-Ocasio is strong enough for Caguas :teach: only problem here can be reception
