Unilever 2013/2014

  • Sarah Pavan is qualified to the round of 32 at the Beach Volleyball World Championships (Mazury 2013). :dance6:
Pavan/Bansley defeated Artacho/Ngauamo [AUS] today (21:12, 17:21, 15:7). Not bad to get started. :super:

Yesterday globo.com reported her experience changing court to beach.

'I'm an indoor player, love it, it's my job. I'll keep on doing it because it's my first sport, but it's hard to Canada qualify to the Olympic Games. That's my dream and I had always known only beach volleyball is in with a chance. I need to try for all I had. When Bernardinho called me asking about my change to beach volleyball I was very nervous, but he said me it was a good idea, that he'll help me on blocking, shape and the skills I need to step up on court. He was happy and I relaxed."

"I'm an opposite. I'm out of reception. It had been a lot of time without training it and it's been tough for now. Back running is hard and I never trained it before. It's a different skill and I'm not able to do it great yet, but I want to do better so. The brazilians have the greatest indoor practices and a good reputation on beach. I usually watch the brazilians playing to learn. I like Talita because she's an excellent blocker and back runner. Definitely, I got to learn it."

Sarah Pavan is the tallest women playing the World Championship.

FIVB has just published also a short interview and a video with her. Here: http://www.fivb.org/viewPressR….asp?No=40733&Language=en

  • Unfortunately, the pair Pavan/Bansley was defeated in the round of 32 at the World Championship.

Sarah's game is improving. She is in 3 lists between the greatest players: kills, blocks and hitting percentage.

Pavan/Bansley earned $7,000 and 200 points in the FIVB's ranking. Obviously, indoor volleyball is more profitable to her. Thank goodness! :P

  • After two defeats during pool H matches and almost an elimination, Pavan/Bansley progressed and are unexpectedly in the quarter-finals now and will play Lima/Talita [BRA] on court 1.
On the one hand they will probably be eliminated, but on the other, it means Laola will broadcast the match. :dance6:
Unilevers, is anybody here? Prepare the popcorn. Nice option to this winter cold night! :win:
    It starts around 80 minutes.

  • Lima/Talita defeated the pair Pavan/Bansley yesterday. The brazilian strategy was simple: to serve against Sarah to let her out of the attack.
Pavan played well. She had some good moments blocking but couldn't receive and spike most time. When brazilians served against her she showed a good technique in the rudiment but some problems moving to receive in front of her. She's a solid spiker and a good blocker. Her float serve should improve a little.
The canadians surprised me anyway and have a good potential.

    Pavan/Bansley 1:2 Lima/Talita (21:17, 15:21, 11:15)

  • Berlin Grand Slam
Pavan/Bansley defeated the pair Candelas/Revuelta in straight sets (21:17, 21:14) during the qualification.

Tomorrow they are playing Ludwig/Walkenhorst [GER] and Liliana Baquerizo [ESP].

  • Berlin Grand Slam
Unhappiness, Pavan/Bansley lost two pool matches and didn't advance to round 1.

One of the big issues here is how can beach volleyball help her to step up some indoor skills and how can this be used during Unilever matches.
First of all, I liked her reception. Not the big ones but good. If Brankica is in a bad day she can participate in some rotations.
Her single block and defensive reactions also should progress.
She uses a float serve. It's a good alternative I think. Her jump serve is good but not always consistent.
    I personally appreciate this experience.

  • Sarah Pavan arrived to Rio this Monday. ^^

She will start now the prepration with the rest of the girls available for the season.

So far missing only the girls with NT (Gabi, Fabi and Juciely) and Mihajlovic.

  • After looking at Mihajlovics recent performance i believe Bernardo hit jackpot with his new transfer ( not even talking about Gabis ultimate rise to star player status ) so all in all i think they became strong candidate to win WCC :super:

  • Thanks José! :) Im having problems with my inside-volley editor..I dont know why..hehehe i even asked Matthias if he could fix it for me..but as you already did. ;) thanks a lot! :) :flower:

  • I miss certain player in this photoshot ^^
