female Players 37+

    They have been the stars of our youth. Some of them have risen in the glorious early 90s, some even in the late 80s and some of them are still active!!!

    This thread is supposed to list players 37+ still active to get a chance to follow their career before they might retire...

    (This is my first post to fill the silly season and transfer period after following here a long time, Hi to everyone)

    Liana Mesa Luaces (*1977, Cuba, World Champion 1998, long time setter/opposite of national team) continues for one more year in German Bundesliga with Rote Raben Vilsbiburg 14/15 as opposite hitter.


    Recently she was elected MVP of Bundesliga 2013/14. 8 Times best player of the winning team.
    She is a hard hitter, still high jump and very charismatic on court.

    Mesa played as Setter/Opposite in Athens in Olympic Games in 2004 and earlier, later she played as Libero and she played on that position in Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 ^^ later she came to Europe and plays as OP till now.

    There were not only costa and aguero... Mesa was setter/opp 250 times between 1998 and 2008, especially after Marlenis Costa (*1973) and Aguero retired from NT in 2000/2001 she played starting 6 e.g. with Daimi Ramirez, e.g. to gain Bronze at 2004 olympics. Just check it out anywhere.

    Artamonova is coming back to volleyball after break and she'll be back in Uralochka.


    I'd like to add here a Polish player - Magdalena Śliwa (1986-now) in November will be 45 years old and she's still active player. She did much for Polish NT in years 1990-2007 some people should know her ^^ she played 7 seasons in Italian league including Perugia, Bergamo, Jesi and Vicenza. Now she's playing in Beef Master Budowlani Łódź.

    I saw Regla Bell playing somewhere in Asia, I´m not sure, but I think her team played at the Asian Championship, maybe is from Vietnan...

    Does anyone know how Dani Scott performed? Does she still have a chance to play in a good club?

    - Well, she had a good performance last season in Brasilia, good attack and also blocking quite well...I´m sure she still can plays in high level...mainly because she never had problems with injuries...

    So in 2014/15 we still can see:


    Tai Aguero (1977, OPP/S) play as setter in Cassalmaggiore - think she doesn`t switch back to setter just for 1 season


    Carmen Turlea :rose: (1975, OPP) in San Casciano - wow, OPP at 40Years. wonder if it`s her last...


    Simona Gioli (1977, MB) in Metalleghe Sanitars Montichiari - maybe still enough for MB instead of OPP

    Former Bulgarian national player Elena Koleva (1977, OPP) last year best scorer of A2, so seems still in good shape, from Il Bisonte Azzurra San Casciano (ITA) (A2) to Forli (ITA) (A2).

    Looks like Dinamo Bukarest has an old-star teem with
    Luminita Trombitas *1971 (ROM) Setter,
    Aneta Germanova *1975 (BUL) OH,
    Alida Carmen Marcovici *1973 (ROM) MB
    all in starting six.
    Marcovoci is often topscorer of the team with good %.
