Bulgarian NT 2016

  • The president of VC Slavia Ivan Seferinov is the new head coach of women national team. He wasn't practiced as head coach from a very long time. I don't know how to react. :what:

Hristina Ruseva will miss the whole season of national team because of cruciate ligament injury. ;(

It's almost like Impel Wroclaw's president story :D I think Marcello Abbondanza was the best coach that Bulgarian NT had recently.

Yes i also think in that way but our federation wants bulgarian coach to lead our national team. Seferinov is volleyball specialist with a big experience and practice but mainly in male volleyball. He discovered Matey Kaziyski and Plamen Konstantinov for a big volleyball but we don't have such talents in women volleyball. :tzz:

  • Except injured Ruseva the season with national team will miss Dobriana Rabadzhieva due to ankle surgery. I hope so that the miss of these important players will not be fatal for Bulgarian Team ambitions for Grand Prix and European qualifications.

  • Bulgarian head coach Ivan Seferinov annouced the wide roster of Bulgaria for this summer

setters: Lora Kitipova (Vicenza, Italy), Petya Barakova ( Volero, Switzerland), Kristina Guncheva ( Ordu Telekom, Turkey), Yoanna Atanasova ( Rakovski, Bulgaria), Mirela Shahpazova ( Maritsa, Bulgaria), Polina Neykova ( CSKA, Bulgaria)

middle blockers : Nasya Dimitrova (Levski, Bulgaria), Mira Todorova ( Le Cannet, France), Gabriela Koeva ( Telekom, Azerbaijan), Tsvetelina Zarkova ( Stiinita, Romania), Viktoria Grigorova ( Maritsa, Bulgaria), Veronika Bejandolska (Levski, Bulgaria), Maria Dancheva ( Maritsa, Bulgaria), Radostina Marinova ( Kazanlak, Bulgaria), Iveta Stanchulova ( CSKA, Bulgaria)

ouside hitters : Elitsa Vasileva (Kazan, Russia), Eva Yaneva ( Ilbank, Turkey), Kremena Kamenova ( Idman Ocagi, Turkey), Gergana Dimitrova ( RC Cannes, France ), Miroslava Paskova (Levski, Bulgaria), Desislava Nikolova ( Seramikasan, Turkey)

opposites : Emilya Nikolova(Scandicci, Italy), Yulia Stoyanova ( Nancy, France), Gabriela Tsvetanova ( Olympiacos, Greece), Silvana Chasusheva ( Maritsa, Bulgaria), Katrin Dimitrova (Levski, Bulgaria), Veselina Grigorova ( Kazanlak, Bulgaria), Ralina Doshkova ( CSKA, Bulgaria)

liberos : Maria Filipova ( Telekom, Azerbaijan), Zhana Todorova ( Maritsa, Bulgaria), Slavena Nikova ( CSKA, Bulgaria)

Misses are Rabadzhieva and Ruseva because of injuries, Strashi Filipova ?, Slavina Koleva, Maria Karakasheva.

  • Elitsa Vasileva (OH) is out this Summer from NT. She got injury so She needs surgery. :(

One more bad news for Bulgaria NT.

  • Eva Yaneva is again captain of the national team for the upcoming matches in WGP in absence of Elitsa Vasileva. Bulgarian roster who will play first round in Argentina is :

    setters: Lora Kitipova, Petya Barakova

middle blockers: Nasya Dimitrova, Mira Todorova, Veronika Bejandolska

ouside hitters: Eva Yaneva, Kremena Kamenova, Gergana Dimitrova, Miroslava Paskova

    opposites: Emilya Nikolova, Yulia Stoyanova

    liberos: Maria Filipova

And now the mystery of missing of Strashi Filipova from NT is revealed. According to media sportal bg she is pregnant in fourth month  Probably she will gave birth together with Diana Nenova who wait her second child. This is a good reason to miss some matches. I hope so that Strashi soon will return in volleyball.

  • Bulgarian federation threatened to punish player Dobriana Rabadzhieva with stopping her rights to play volleyball because she wasn't appear at national team preparations. According to them she has to be yet fully recovered from injury which she had this summer but she wasn't yet appear and coach Ivan Seferinov can't contact with her.

  • A player can decide if they want to play for the NT or not.. It should be an honor, not an obligation.. Dobriana is one of the best that comes from Bulgaria, and has been one of the best all round OHs in the world these last few seasons so threats like that are pretty immature

  • A player can decide if they want to play for the NT or not..

That's how it should be, but it's not true unfortunately :white: The national federations are somewhat the "owner" of the player licenses, and officially players are obliged to play for their federation (= NT). If they refuse to do so, national federations have the power to withdraw the player license so the player cannot sign with any club.

I remember a similar situation from Turkey some years ago when Naz Aydemir missed NT season because of an injury, back then Turkish federation also caused her a lot of trouble. As far as I remember it affected another Turkish player but I can't recall who it was...

  • Croatian federation did the same in 2000 when they selected all their naturalized Russian players to play at the Olympic qualifying tournament even though they had retired from NT. They didn't want to play, but they were threatened with suspension which would make them unable to sign a professional contract anywhere. They were extremely upset about the situation, Kirillova was so furious she even cried in public, but in the end they had no choice but to show up.

It's rarely done in practice nowadays, but it is a theoretical possibility indeed.

  • I think that this is stupid and it's typical maybe for some passed times but not for today. If she doesn't want to play then it's much better do not play instead of playing reluctantly without real joy if of course this the reason of her missing. Yes, Bulgaria is not volley power which can afford do not play with their best players without loosing quality but no one is irreplaceable so i believe that Bulgaria will qualify for ECH without her.
