Italian NT 2016

  • My guess for the 12-player roster for the OG – not considering physical problem or similar – is:

Del Core – Egonu – Gennari – Sylla*
    Guiggi – Chirichella – Danesi
    Orro – ?**
    Ortolani – Diouf
    De Gennaro***

*I don't like her very much too, but if she play like she often did in Tokyo I'm ok with that); also Guerra could be a possibility...
** I'm still hoping without any reason that Leo will be back *_* And Cambi may be a possibility instead of Malinov
*** I would be totally fine also with Sirressi, expecially if Moky plays like she did in the last matches... I mean, we have so many good liberos and I would be very annoyed if the titular in Rio won't play well

But Bonitta alway does few surprises...

About the symbol of italian female volleyball, Picci definitely is, but for me Leo is the real icon of italian female volleyball *_* (with Cardullo).

  • my main Italian team maybe is so :

    S: Orro, Malinov
OH: Sorokaite, Del Core, Gennari, Sylla
    OPP: Egonu, Ortolani
    MB: Guiggi, Chrichella, Danesi, Folie
    L: Moki, Imma

When Egonu is going to serve, change her with Malinov and the same for Orro too change her with Ortolani. Of course, Italian team needs strong serve too.

  • Ps I don't know if it was clear but I wasn't making my 'ideal Italian team', but 'the team I think Bonitta will take to Rio', that are not necessarily the same things ;) (In this case it's quite the same, though). [Pss in Rio there will be only 12 players, not 14.]

I'm specifying that because both Folie and Sorokaite aren't in the GP roster, so they'll hardly go to Rio, unless the other players will have injury or similar (and probably not even in this case, especially for Sorokaite as OH...)

By the way, Sorokaite played as OH in Azerrail Baku. I dont say that Sorokaite must be in main team. Of course, Italy has a lot of good player like Laura Partenio and Vale Tirozzi. But Sorokaite was silver medalist of Italian Championship and after Meijners, she was the 2nd good spiker in Piacenza. Bonitta is the coach of Italy and choose players his own decision. If tell the truth I think Italy will be 5th in pool " B" in Rio. Because now Netherlands are better than Italy, they won 3-0 in olimpic qualiqation twice (in Turkey and Japan) and the same thing was in european championships too. Bonitta must change something for good result.

  • As expected, Del Core, Centoni, Guiggi and Orro take a rest. They don't participate in the 1st week WGP. They prepare for the game in Bari instead.

    1st week WGP in Brazil

S: Ofelia Malinov e Carlotta Cambi
OPP: Valentina Diouf e Serena Ortolani
OH: Paola Egonu, Miriam Sylla, Anastasia Guerra, Alessia Gennari e Ilaria Spirito
MB: Anna Danesi, Laura Melandri, Cristina Chirichella
L: Immacolata Sirressi e Monica De Gennaro

  • 12 in Rio2016

    S: Orro / Malinov
    OPP: Diouf / Centoni
OH: Egonu / Sylla / Del Core / Ortolani
MB: Danesi / Guiggi / Chirichella
    L: De Gennaro

  • This is the final lineup for Rio?

No, nobody announced it (sitemap is quite unreliable on this forum). However the final roster will look something like this but you should remember we also have Gennari and Sirressi, so the final roster is still not fully set, although i think we already have some locks! :win:

  • I really hope Diouf doesn't go ti Rio. I mean everybody made such a noise when she was cut for Ankara and now when given a chance, she is not performing as she should.. The problem IMO is that Egonu and Ortolani can play as OH and OPP too, but you also have Sylla as attacking OH and DIouf and Centoni as pure OPP. IMO only one OH who can pass (Del Core) is too little.. Maybe it would be wiser to take 3 OHs, Siressi as defensive OH, and two OPPs one of which can play as OH.

agree, then it gives Egonu, Sylla and Del Core as OHs, Sirressi as backrow specialist and Centni with Ortolani as OPs and IMHO it would be ok ^^

  • Genneri has got knee injury. It takes 20-30 of recovery.

    poor Alessiasssss

  • According to volley.IT, Lo bianco will come back to NT and play at the Olympics. Is that true? Is she going to replace Malinov or Orro? ?(

Apparently it's official! http://www.federvolley.it/news…a-lo-bianco-torna-azzurro Lo Bianco will come to the training camp that starts on 5th of July.

Next week the team will start to train again and Lo Bianco is back. It basically means (99,9%) that she will go to Rio. :cheesy:
I knew it, I knew since when she didn't play in the tournament for the OG qualification and in the WC that she would have been called again. It was predictable. (I think) She wasn't called before, because Bonitta decided to prevent injury in order to play with the best team in Rio. In fact, he never let players play 2 matches in a row to give them some rest. This may have been his best choice.

I think she will replace Malinov since Orro now walks and she has been working on her ankle from a long time now, she said that she is ok. So I think she will go to Rio, and let's be honest, she is better than Malinov. Malinov is taller and maybe sometimes she serves better than Orro, but Orro sets better. I said it since day one.

I think out best line-up for Rio is
    Lo Bianco-Centoni
    Guiggi-Danesi/Chirichella
    Del Core - Sylla(?)
    De Gennaro
(with Egonu-Orro used A LOT during our classic double substitution when Leo is in 1st row)

    Our problems will be that:
    - we don't have a great MB (except Guiggi) since Arrighetti is half injured and Gioli is not in the NT anymore;
    - we don't have an OH able to recive well except Del Core (I don't know if Gennari is ok and she will be able to go to Rio) [Tirozzi may be VERY, V-E-R-Y useful];
    - Bonitta may do strange things such as playing with Diouf (when we have Centoni and Egonu), let Ortolani and Egonu playing not in their role.

BTW, I as still sorry for Ferretti. Leo and Francy are our best setter since a lot of time and playing such an important tournament with young and unexperienced setters is way too dangerous. My dream was to watch again and for the last time, Lo Bianco and Ferretti together in the NT. :(

It's possible, you just have to believe in yourself and really not care what other people say, because I've heard it all.
If you let someone else dictate what you're going to do in life, then you won't get there.

Non so neanche come onestamente: in due mesi ero di nuovo in campo.

  • :cheesy: :cheesy: :cheesy: :cheesy:

About the setter, I'm so glad that Leo will train with the girls! Even if I'm sorry for the one between Malinov and Orro won't go to Rio :( Well, they'll have other chance.

But who will stay home? When I wrote this post, I was sure Orro was Bonitta first choice. After the GP, I'm not so sure anymore (but I would still bet on Orro).

    Let's see why.
Malinov did quite good these days, imho, and the fact that she played almost the whole Gran Prix gave her a little advantages on Orro.
On the other hand, Orro is almost full recovered and will train the whole month(and also played the qualification tournament, so it's not that she never played a real match with these girls).
Honestly, I tactically prefer Orro in general (but I'm not that good judging this aspect) and I think she has a better serve (even if float), but Malinov has a great jump that helps a lot both in block and in saving high reception/defense, and now has a better feeling with the MBs. Orro will have time to find it too in this month, though.
But, beside all this consideration, the things that will make me choose Orro, is that Malinov – at least in the NT – often messed it up when she enter an already started match. So she did vs Oland, so she did in the terrible double changes Sorokaite/Leo - Malinov/Diouf in the ECh.

I'm also very sorry for Gennari, she would have been so useful for her reception skills, but if she won't train for all that team she probably won't see Rio... So, I guess Centoni won't be cut. Or Sirressi to have a better receiver on the bench...

This could be the roster, then:

    Leo - Orro/(Malinov)
    Guiggi - Chirichella - Danesi
    Diouf - Centoni OPP
    Egonu - Ortolani OPP/OH
    Del Core – Sylla OH
    De Gennaro

Other possibilities: Gennari instead of Centoni; Sirressi instead of Moki (not very probable) or Centoni/Gennari; Guerra?

Hard to guess the starting six, also considering that may be it will change according to the opponents...
    I'll say:
    Leo - Egonu
    Guiggi - Chiricella
    Del Core - Sylla
    De Gennaro
