Brazilian NT 2016

  • And in 2012 we didn't even need a 2nd L as we had already 5 receiving OHs (Piccinini, Del Core, Costagrande, Lucia and Caterina Bosetti) and not even 1 OPP!! :rolll: :aww:
Unbelievable how things can change so quickly....

now You have 4 OPs, 1 offensive OH and 1 well-receiving OH

  • I don't think having another libero for a backrow substitution on three rotations per set would contribute much.

Well, if you are 23-23 it CAN actually change the sets and the match...
Italy is in Rio also because Bonitta put Bosetti in for Diouf in the back row at the end of the tie break vs Turkey, if I recall well ^^

    [But I see you're point ;)]

  • I checked the rule.
Wasn't it means each team can have two liberos, no matter 12 or 14 players, and if a team wants to register more than 12 players, they must have two liberos?
Also you cannot say that "No team register two liberos, means you can't register two liberos".

or there are some changes hasn't update into the rule book? (pretty weird :white: )

Rules of the Game 2015-2016: Most pertinent changes from the previous version
    19 THE LIBERO PLAYER
    19.1. DESIGNATION OF THE LIBERO
19.1.1. Each team has the right to designate from the list of
players on the score sheet up to two specialist defensive
    players: Liberos.
In FIVB, World and Official competitions for Seniors, if a
team has more than 12 players recorded in the score
sheet, 2 Liberos are mandatory in the team list.

  • i think it's IOC that determines that teams cannot have more than 12 players. if it was up to FIVB, they 'd allow 14 players, but i think they have to limit how many athletes there are at the olympics since there's already too many.

i'm not sure why they limit to one libero, teams just regisgter them as OH, or why not even MB, it makes no difference.

  • [OT]

About the rule posted, I don't think it's true also for the OG, in fact it also consider that a team can be made with 14 players, which is not allowed in OG.

So i guess you can have only one libero.
I don't know if you have to nominate a specific 'normal' player as second libero (to use in case of emergency), or if you can decide at the moment who will replace the libero if needed.

I was also curious to understand:

    - if every match you can chose a different libero (I think not)

    - if you can change (permanently) a libero during a match with a regular player even if the first libero isn't injured (again, I think not...)

  • Sheilla, Fabiana e Jaqueline have officially announced their retirement from the NT following their elimination from the Rio OG.

Among this Olympic roster, most probably only Gabi and Natalia (maybe also Thaisa) will be in Tokyo. Brasil will be the one which will loose most of their players for next olympic cycle.

  • Today is that day when Brazilian dominance ended for many years.

Curious when We see Brazil with Gold Medal in intercontinental zone again.

Remember that World Grand Prix 2016 Gold.
