Chinese NT 2017

  • China loses one match and all of sudden the team is destroyed?

If you had read my previous comments, you would notice that I don't care even if China lose all match in the WGP. As I said before, WGP is more a test bed for the newcomers or for the bench players. As someone had said here, if you really want your team to win this tournament, then you should send your best elements and manage better your match strategy. But if you want to test your newcomers or to give them more experience, then let them play and find out who's swimming and who's sinking. But when you're confusing your team with your idiotic decisions or causing unnecessary stress to your players or exhausting them for nothing, Yes... This could destroy the team.

  • The problem is that China probably had to play with their starters against the Dutch because they were playing at home and would not be a good look if they played with their bench and lost. Can you imagine how people would be calling them out on that and saying they lost on purpose only to send Brazil home?

That`s why China as the host should have been given the better schedule. Play Day 1 and Day 2, takes Day 3 off and play Day 4 semis and Day 5 final. But they gave Brazil and USA this schedule. As a host they should have known better that playing 3 games in a row would be exhausting.

But if it was Lang Ping or giovanni guidetti, they won't give a fk about those trivial "criticisms". How many times, Lang Ping was criticized for not bringing her A team to the WPG? Now more and more teams are adopting her approach. As I said before, the goal of a general (coach) is not to win all battle, but win the war.

  • In that match against the Netherlands, China only needed to win 2 sets to remain at the top of their group. After winning those 2 sets, the coach should have rested his main players to avoid tiring them out. What happened may have affected their performance but Italy also did its part to win the game.

I do hope that in the next tournament, Lang Ping will be back to re-organize the team.

  • After WGP 2017, the players of Team A will return their clubs for the senior or junior events of 13th Chinese National Games.
Zhu Ting and Yuan Xin-yue will get the rest because Henan Senior and Bayi Senior have said goodbye to the meeting.
See you in September for WGCC 2017 and the qualification of WCH 2018.

My favourite roster of Chinese (in 2022)

OP - Jiang Chuan, Dai Qing-yao
    OH - Zhang Jing-yin, Yu Yuan-tai, Liu Li-bin, Fu Hou-wen
    MB - Zhang Zhe-jia, Peng Shi-kun, Li Yong-zhen, Jiang Zhen-yang
    L - Yang Yi-ming, Yang Tian-yuan

    female NT:
    S - Yao Di, Diao Lin-yu
    OP - Gong Xiang-yu, Sun Xiao-xuan
    OH - Li Ying-ying, Wang Yi-fan, Wu Meng-jie, Zhuang Yu-shan
MB - Yuan Xin-yue, Wang Yuan-yuan, Zheng Yi-xin, Liu Yu

You are completely right!!! An confuses his players and does not seem to have any clue about how to stop the attacks and improve the blocking...Lang would have suggested to get close till you feel the body of your mate before jumping, leaving as such NO GAP and blocking Bosckovic.. :read:
I think this proves his not suited for the role, it's time to call Lang Ping back and after Tokyo to hire Guidetti who will know Zhu better than anybody else :obey:

  • Lang Ping would have sit Zhu Ting and Zhang Changning out for this game. This fool risks players health just to win some petty result. In the end, he couldn't win anything with an Olympic championship team.

  • I fully agree...In an interview post serbia he said he didn't want to risk Zhang's foot... but apparently it was Zhu's decision to take on the match..

Hope they will rest, and reflect about the future and the many problems the currently have. Not impressed by any of the team members except Yuan (who in a couple of years will be the best MB in the world) and Zhu. :super:

  • May Day! May Day! Ship 2017 is calling The Controller... ship 2017 is calling here.... :cheesy:

We are facing some hardships in sailing this ship. The ship has the relative good conditions, the crews are relatively intact, but the ship just crashed the reefs in the small island. We do need the previous experienced, empathetic and keen captain to navigate the ship through the vast ocean under many hardships like before. It seems the current intern captain was not as effective the preceding one. Please help to make sure that the old captain will back on duty for the next big expedition... :bump:

I too was impressed with Yuan. Her loud screech aside she seems to do her job quietly and efficiently. She's a better scorer than blocker at this point?

I'm also impressed, as I've said here recently, with Xiaotong Liu. She doesn't seem to get a lot of respect. She may have ups and downs, and even though many here might have preferred she missed one of those serves at the end against NED, the fact that she nailed them without breaking a sweat really demonstrates what a pro she is.

And Gao Yi. Another tall youngster. I think she held her own. Attacks well and quickly. Will get better at blocking.

Ding Xia impressed in a quiet way. As did Lin Li.

My fave Zhang Changning was disappointing. I'll give her a rust handicap when it comes to attacking but I didn't realize her liability as a receiver (maybe because I didn't realize the importance of receiving until recently).

Wonder why they still have these supid national games?!? To exhaust the players?!?

  • Yuan is going to be like Foluke Akiradewo which is not bad :super: BUt she is also a marvellous blocker, she just needs a lil more time, also, her height may allow her to block basically anyone

She is a good server but struggles against high blocks, that's an issue. Currently China does not have many OHs. Her reception also is quite poor.. wonder why the staff does not train them properly. The passing is very awkward for China..

They are still on vacation

Ding Xia impressed in a quiet way. As did Lin Li.

Zhang had an injury earlier on. She is still recovering ( that's why An decided not to use her against serbia). She was supposed to be the most improved player from Rio and I was curios to see her playing as well.. pity! But she has the potential, last year at grand prix she impressed me more than anybody else and I really thought she had reached Zhu's level: high spikes over the top, clever plays and huge blocking. In Rio she looked exhausted Nonetheless she is the future for this China :win:

National Games is every four years and means a lot for athletes that can't represent China on the world stage, Lots of rewards for the winners as well for bureaucrats.

  • Lang Ping to return earlier than expected after dismal GP results.

    Lots of pressure

  • Frustrating and disappointing WGP results.
An JiaJIe has no excuse except Zhang's injury but nonetheless the team lacked of overall coordination and motivation and was very predictive in its attack schemes.

  • just give some messages of Chinese NT of ACH 2017:
Bao Zhuang (head coach): the former one of the escort coaches during Lang Ping Period I [1995-1998] and one of the assistant coaches of Chen Zhong-he Period [2001-2008], from Liaoning
Yuan Zhi (assistant coach): the former OP of Chinese men's NT from 2001 to 2016
Liu Meng-ya (born in 1988, captain): the OH of Team Yunnan though she comes from Chongqing; she might join Chinese NT in the period of Chen Zhong-he though she failed due to Yunnan's bad results.

team - players in this NT - their famous teammates:
Yunnan - Liu Meng-ya, Lei Yan-xi and Shu Zhi-jia - Zhang Xian (retired this year)
Guangdong - Yu Jia-rui and Chen Pei-yan - None [Guangdong is more from Guangdong Province (Taishang Jianlong) instead of Guangdong Evergrande from 2009 to 2014]
Beijing - Guan Rui-ge, Jin Ye and Wang Si-min - Zeng Chun-lei and Liu Xiao-tong (the former ones: Feng Kun and Xue Ming)
Henan - Cai Xiao-qing, Huang Rui-lei and Wang Zi-chen - Zhu Ting
Fujian - Liang Gui-qian and Huang Feng - Xu Yun-li and Lin Li (Mi Yang is only loaned from Tianjin and Mi Yang is a Hui People from Gansu, Zheng Yi-xin still needs to prove herself)
