Russian NT 2018

  • They don't. Malova is really, really good. Other than Goncharova, she's imo Russia's best player these days.

Well congratulations to her and best wishes. I'll miss her. I enjoyed watching her scurry around in the undergrowth of tall timber.

  • Situation about Tanya Kosheleva is too difficult to say anything. According to Pankov's words, Tanya may touch the ball in August. But Pankov said that it was early to say anything about Tanya's situation. It will depend on her situation she will play in WCH or not. It is an uncertain situation for now.

  • According to Pankov's words, Russian team will be the same in 2nd round of VNL. He is only not sure about OPP players. And he is willing to give a more chance to Anna Kotikova as OPP.

  • Yana Sherban was the guest of sport fm. She said that she would like to play in WCH but it would depend on Pankov. If he invites her, she will be very happy for that. Even they talk some funny things like who is more beautiful girl in her team. Without hesitation she said that Goncharova was the most beautiful girl  even they asked Yana about Elitsa Vasileva and her beauty  she said that Elisa is beautiful in her way :D Yana said about Terzic he was a great coach and they didn't blame him not to play in final four. It was not coach's wrong. She admitted that their team was not powerful in CL. Yana also mentioned that she really loved USA. About Brazil she said that it was very hot country and even when they played in Olympic Games they were protected because someone attacked them in the street

Here is the link of Yana Sherban.

He asked Sherban about origin of her surname and she replied it may game from her root (maybe Ukraine or Belorussia). She didn't know excat things about her surname. She was on holiday in America. She said that she loved being there and it was very expencive. He asked about which fans of countries she would like. She immediately replied Poland, Turkey, Brazil which made players play worse. When they were in Brazil, someone attacked them and even police protected them. She said that Brazil and USA had 4 times more criminal acts if to compared with Russia. She liked playing volleyball not watching. She replied that playing beach volleyball is more difficult than indoor. She said that Russian league was not better nowadays. She does hope it would be better next year. About Russian NT she said last 2 years they didn't play well, new players came to NT, new coaches but it didn't change the result. She did hope that Pankov would give a chance her to play in WCH. She has the holiday till July. She didn't like sports any more like football, basketball she is not interested in them.

  • According to Pankov's words, Russian team will be the same in 2nd round of VNL. He is only not sure about OPP players. And he is willing to give a more chance to Anna Kotikova as OPP.

Kotikova is listed as 185 I'm not sure it's a good idea she plays in that position. I think Pankov missed the opportunity to invite Lazareva to NT. In my opinion she has more potential than Malygina. As it seems now, Malykh is still Russia's next best OPP after Goncharova.

  • Kotikova is a decent receiver. I don't think they should use her as opposite. Malygina is inconsistent and always looks a bit awkward on court... But as long as Goncharova is playing the position of the second OPP is almost irrelevant...
I hope Shcherban an Krotkova will join the team in July.

  • Elena Godina gave an interview about Russian NT. She shared her thoughts. She liked Voronkova's game except her performance against Korea. She liked Lyubishkina and Lazarenko too. She said that our mistakes were a lot indeed, 27 mistakes against Belgium and Turkey too much. She is also not satisfied our games against Turkey, she said that we made many mistakes against that roster of Turkey, which there were no need to play tie-break, they could beat more easily. She even mentioned this tournament could be a good chance to know your opponents in WCH, if you would not play in F6.

  • I sometimes don't understand Pankov  why don't take Russu instead of Malygina. At least Russu got 183 points, Malygina got 18 points in regular season. She was a bench player and she is 24, I am hopeless her improvement, but at least Russu is a young player, she is only 19 and she can improve herself. The same with Tatiana Iurinskaya who got 320 points in regular season and she only lost 1st place to Goncharova who got 368 points in regular season. I am not agree with Bryukova too. At least Iurinskaya was 2nd player who got more points. Taking Malygina and Bryukova were the only reason, it is obvious their height was the main reason here. I am not surprised if Pankov took Bryukova because of playing abroad :wall: :D

Yes, I also don't understand why Pankov never use her.
She was the best young player during this season and showed good rate on both attacking and passing. She should be tried more instead of Biryukova.

And I hope Anna Lazareva transfers to the club which she can be a starter (or more playing time).
Sitting on bench and almost zero playing time give her nothing :wall: :wall:

  • According to Pankov's words, Yulia Brovkina (MB) may join to NT in the last week. He also mentioned that he didn't like Malygina's performance on court, he was satisfied about Lazarenko and Lyubishkinas' performances. He also said that Efimova was not good. But at least he gave a chance to all players to fight on court. He also said that Turkey NT were the team they never accept their lost and 4th set his players were on holiday after 20-8 and that's why Turkey punished them. He was satisfied about two victory and said that at least his players were improving if to compared with the 1st week.

  • Anastasia Somoilenko will replace Tatiana Iurinskaya and libero Viktoria Gorbacheva will replace Talysheva this week. The rest of players will be the same.

  • I am just watching replay Beligum vs Russia on Match Iqra TV. I can't believe how many mistakes Biryukova have done. She is a bad receiver and even her attack is worse than Malygina's. Except Iurinskaya, every players got a chance to play on court. I just hope that Pankov will give a chance to her next week. Malygina and Biryukova are waste of time for NT.

  • Problem is here, our players are not trying to do anything. They are not fighting on court. They seem to be afraid of their opponents. I like these sides of Turkish and Brazilian players. They don't care about who are their opponents, champion of WCH or ECH or the best team of the world. They try to play their games. But our players are not doing anything. Romanova regularly don't play more with her MBs and also her passes are not good anyway.
I do hope that Pankov will clear some players after WCH. I think he doesn't want to take risks and give a chance to young players. He is not satisfied about OPP players (Malykh and Malygina). I think he will search new players for NT next years. According to his words Yulia (young MB) will join NT next week. I guess that he will try to find new and young faces for NT during next years. Let's see...

With regards to the MBs, only Koroleva and Fetisova has secured their spot for WCH. Maybe Lyubushkina will be the third one.

I hope either one of Shcherban or Khodunova will join WCH, to compliment Voronkova in the OH position and to help with the reception. I don't get the coach's love affair with Kutyukova, I think she is a worse Frolova (at least Frolova can score points). If he does want to use Kutyukova, then maybe as libero but not as OH. Biryukova can say goodbye to the team.

    My Russian team for WCH:

    OH: Voronkova, Shcherban, Parubets, Khodunova
    MB: Koroleva, Fetisova, Lyubushkina*
OPP: Goncharova, Stolyarova* (with how mediocre Malykh/Malygina is playing, I think she is Russia's best alternative and she is backup to Goncha anyway)
    S: Startseva, Romanova
    L: Kutyukova, Kryuchkova

    *Can be serve specialist

  • My Russian team for WCH:

    OH: Voronkova, Shcherban, Khodunova, Kotikova
    MB: Koroleva, Fetisova, Efimova
OPP: Goncharova, Malygina (for double sub with Startseva... or try Petrova...)
    S: Vetrova, Startseva
    L: Ulanova, Kryuchkova

I think Russia should mainly play with the Dinamo Moscow team. They played pretty well in the playoffs...
