  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3bXjzDieZNw&feature=related Kurek 1-st m. spike POL-BUL ECH 2009, Semifinal

that's the best spike i have ever watched. i mean HOW can you do that :what:

Anyone can support a team that is winning - it takes no courage. But to
stand behind a team to defend a team when it is down and really needs
you, that takes a lot of courage.

  • Leon Wilfredo Venero has spike height 350 at age of 16 - 25 cm more than the standard height for the age. The new Leonell Marshall

Sokolov will have the chance to prove again his quality in the next two or three games, since Visotto will be with his national NT...

  • About Tsvetan Sokolov - see this game stat -- http://www.legavolley.it/TabellinoGara.asp?IdGara=18972

    Trento - Modena 3:1

  • I am watching carefully Teodor Todorov in the Bulgarian championship. He is almost 210 cm with very high jump (gone into volleyball from the high jump in athletics) and at the moment he is touching 375+ cm. He is muscular, but light and has very big potential, bigger than Kazyiski according to some specialists - for the physical talent. In technique he is growing day by day and should become world class Middle Blocker after one or two years, if he continue to develop like know. We will see him in the Champions League. The only problem is that the CSKA reception is not very good so I don't know how many chances he will get in attack, but definitely he should perform well. We'll see. I have great hopes for WCH 2010 and/ord ECH 2001 with Kazyiski, Sokolov and Todorov, but everything can happen and we can only wait and hope :)

Wow 375 cm for midlle blocer is very good result.

Have you got any video with his game? I was very interestd to see him, but on you tube I can not find any.

  • He has no international experience, yet. Watch the games of CSKA in the champion league, he will be in the starting six. About this 375 - this is what he touches, usually the attack height is a little bit lower (Kazyiski touches 379, but attacks on 370 cm, same for Visotto), but he is very young so there is very good chance to have also 370 cm in attack. He has good speed also.

In the tournament Attaro Clima in Bulgaria (Bulgarian Cup 2) at the final he scored 20 pts (overall) with 80% in attack and made 9 blocks - I watched the game on the television. He was MVP.
CSKA now have Nikolay Ivanov - the setter who was in Bulgarian NT before Jekov and who played long time in Poland, so in the CL if the reception is good, I expect to see something from Todorov :)

  • Wow, impressing :P
Btw, anyone heard anything about young, 16 yrs old polish boy, who attacks on 370, or even more, just like Kaziyski... :what:
I know it sounds strange...but...hmm...I donnu what to think abt it. I read couple of moths ago abt him, and now I read that he has some serious problems with PZPS, and he thinks abt playing for USA 8|
He practised with polish NT before WL, in Spała.
He also had some suggestions from Italians nd Russians...
I mean...I donnu if it's true, but I'm just curioius...Anyone know anything about him?

    Olja,

I really don't believe that a human player with age of 16 years is capable of attacking from 370 cm. The phenomenon Leon Wilfredo Venero has spike 350 cm and this is 25 cm more than the best spike of normal 16 years old boy players. I doubt that even Leonel Marshall had more than 350 cm in his 16-s. No boy borned from woman can improve on this in my opinion, no with 20 cm or more. Either:

    1) The Polish boy does not exist
    2) The Polish boy is not polish, cause IT is not HUMAN
    3) The Polish boy is not boy, but 19-20 years old
    4) The Polish boy eats doping instead of food
    5) The Polish boy attacks from less than 370, even less than 355 cm

Otherwise it is VERY unlikely 16 year old Polish boy to attack from 370+ cm. Not impossible, but VERY unlikely :)

About Kurek - he is in the World Class Stars, not talents anymore. I don't even believe that he is a Man and not Machine

  • Raylight,
Yeah, it's also at least strange for me. I just wrote it here, cuz I was wondering...maybe someone know anything abt him.
    I was just curious...
Hmm...anyone?? :D On onet someone add translate of 'interview' with him...I rly donnu what to think abt it. It's really...hmm...strange ?(

  • Olja, It is totaly possible 19 years old Polish Man to have 370+ ( or 16 years old to have 350- ) :) I would love to watch movie with this guy to see him in action/reaction :)

  • xD I'd like to see him in action too. Unfortunately I found no pic or video...
I read that, he's playing right now in USA, in Sampere (?).
But I didn't find anything abt young, polish player in Sampere... ?(
Ok, maybe really there's no need to looking for any informations abt him. Maybe he didn't even exist...Who knows...

  • May be even the player doesn't think that he exists anymore, being in Sampere :D

  • I think Dick Kooy is quite a decent Dutch talent. He plays for Modena now, he has a lot of power and I think he reaches quite high, not ridiculously high though.

Dynamo here in Hollad has some pretty decent Talents. Michiel van Dorsten is a pretty talented middle blocker, he seems to have quite a lot of power in his hits at times as well. They also have a 17 year old setter called: Nimir Abdelaziz. He has amazing ball controle and feeling for the ball. When I first saw him play I could not stop looking at his technique. It flows like a ballet dancer. For a setter he also has HUGE attack capabilities! Other than that we lack any talents with a ton of height and power, which sucks ass I guess. It would be cool to have a complete monster attacker ala Kaziyski, Kurek, Wijsmans, Marshal or Bas van de Goor.

I saw the european championships under 19 in Holland a while back. France has that one dude.. shit I forget his name. I've seen discussions about him here, he's amazing! Also Spain had some guy called Ruiz, who is absolutely fantastic! Beautiful technique! And Poland had some little blonde dude that looked like he would be crap, but he could play some serious ball! He played with number I remember. Very impressive as well.

  • During the WCH qualification in Varna I noticed that The Netherlands have several guys with extremely high block - 3 with 350 cm and one with 340 cm.
350 is Cuban high block. What is your secret? :)
    http://www.fivb.org/EN/Volleyb…p?Tourn=MQ10EU-J&Team=NED

  • Well van Dijk and Kooistra are just really tall, Horstink jumps really high (his spike is 360 as well) and Lorsheijd I have no idea how he does it. Bontje of course also is quite tall and jumps quite high. So I guess it's the same secret as other teams, select tall players that can jump! :)

  • Yes, but where do you find them? Bulgarian players for example has highest block of 340 cm, I didn't believe that such heights are possible for Europeans in block. Matey has block of 335 cm for example, and he jumps a lot. Is there special training or some other creepy secret to produce these jumpers? Can you borrow us Kooistra for 2010 and 2011 :)

  • Well yeah, perhaps our measuring is just somewhat dubious?? Otherwise I don't know :P Yeah, you'd rather have Kooistra than Bontje? I think generally people favor Bontje. I'm not sure which one I like better. But no, of course not. Or well we'll swap him for Matey of course :P

Lorsheijd also jumps very high! Just as Horstink indeed

  • Polish volleyball is full of young players, their national league is a place where all of them can grow, this is why there is no doubt regarding the young players there :D Similar is the case in Russia, they have at maximum 2 foreigners in every team, making it easy for young boys to come in.

Actually we have 3 places for foreigners in every team, not 2

And in reality we have two team, where ''all of them can grow'': AZS Częstochowa and AZS Politechnika Warszawska.

In Warszawa 4 very young players play in starting six:
Buszek 87' (in NT this year, but he didn't play in A team only in B; he was opposite; has problems with reception),
Kłos 89' (in NT this year, he played a match or two as a substitutor in WL; one of most talented young Polish player; third best blocker in league - first when take in consideration block/set),
    Gałązka 87'
    Wojtaszek 88'
    and substitutors:
Król 89' (opposite; when he was playing in YNT he was considered as one of the best in the world in his class; I'm a little bit disappointed by him right now, but he has still a lot of time)
    Radomski 88'

My Częstochowa is like volley kindergarten in Poland, so:
    starting six:
Drzyzga 90' - setter, my little sunshine  for my (and not only for me) much better than Łomacz; tall, brave; heir to the Zagumny's throne and with a little bit... easier character than Paweł. At present he can play FANTASTIC match one day(and make Falasca and other ridiculous), and the day after he ruins everything. But he is the future. Remember this name.
Zatorski 90' - libero; he can dissolve our problem with libero (both Ignaczak and Gacek are just middle-class for me); he is already one of the best libero in league (according to statistics he has the best reception); I really think that he was born as a libero ;) ; small, shy, modest and he speaks like William Blake
Wiśniewski 89' MB; second best bloccer in league but also (unlike Kłos) great in attack; best scorer among MBs by now; this year he plays much better than Nowakowski 87', who is in NT regularly right now
Janeczek 87' - opposite; finally he plays regularly and he play well. Best scorer in league (50% and 167 points)
Nowakowski 87' - ok, he should be known by now, so I give up. But he plays much worse this year than in season 2008/09 and i'm a little bit worried about him
    substitutors:
Mikołajczak 87' - opposite; left-handed; in NT b this year, he competes with Janeczek, but he plays rather regularly and well
Wrona 88' - MB, he lost against Wiśniewski, but next year Nowakowski probably is going away, so maybe he is going to get a chance

of course there's also Kurek 87' in Skra, and I definitely don't agree that he should be considered as a star. He is a diamond, but not yet a star. He can be the best - I agree. Now he has some crisis and I'm little bit worried about it.

in Resovia we have Mika 91' - hitter; veeeery tall (206 cm), but good enough in reception ?( ; only substitutor but he plays suprisingly regularly; definitely one of the most talented in Poland. I hope that he will get a chance in Resovia, cause it's not so obvious there

Łomacz 87' in Jastrzębie, Konarski 89' in Bydgoszcz, Gunia 87' in Olsztyn

and of course Bartman 87' and Gromadowski 87' outside of the Polish league, but i think they're already known

I didn't mentioned Jarosz, cause I still can't see his talent

  • of course there's also Kurek 87' in Skra, and I definitely don't agree that he should be considered as a star. He is a diamond, but not yet a star. He can be the best - I agree. Now he has some crisis and I'm little bit worried about it.

    Actually Bartek is 88'.
Yeah I agree with u. Most of them can b really amazing players, I wish them good luck :)
But...hmm...u can't see Jarosz's talent? Why? :D Can u explain it to me? :D U don't like him, or u don't like the way he plays or what...?
