My rankings are based on a 4-year period, individual matches, rank of their competition, regions of their competition and the results in the following:
FIVB World League
FIVB World Championship
FIVB World Cup
Olympics
FIVB Grand Champions Cup
Continental Championships
Qualifying for all of those events

Continental Strength is also given on a 4-year average as well. Asian teams are not strong in international competitions, so their multiplier is low.

China were penalized this past year because they were not in the World League. Even participation does not guarantee that you move up, you have to win sets/matches to increase your points for my ranking system.
