  • What do you guys think about Volleyball » Bulgaria » SuperLiga » Dobrudja - Montana

Odds for Dobrudja are going up and down. Who wins?

I don't know why odds are changing. What I know is Montana still suffers from a few injuries and thus had some difficulties lately. Dobrudzha seems to be in good shape. They won away in Teteven and then played very well against Neftochimik at home (dropped a 2-0 lead but Neftochimik is a different team now). They have some advantage today and I would advise on betting for the home side, perhaps 3-1 or 3-2. But the bet is up to you, I can't take responsibility :D Montana is still a good team.

Thank you mate for detailed information. I'm new to volleyball and just following Italian and Russian leagues. I'm plannig to follow Bulgarian and Polish Leagues also. Thanks again.

Sorry for misunderstanding. I just wanted to learn current condition of both teams. Odds change became for a reason and that I asked what would be that reason.

  • This isnt betting forum so you might change place to discuss your bets :wavy:

As long as people start following the league and get interested in teams and news, then it is okay ;) But true, betting can be discussed privately with messages.

    Levski Ball - CSKA 1-3 (16-25, 25-17, 18-25, 27-29) stats

The match was played in Armeets Arena and was deliberately scheduled outside any regular round in order to emphasize on its (previous) importance. Following the problems with fans during the last several encounters between the two and the closed-doors-for-visitors policy, this was a nice way to engage more people and attract some attention, including the football supporters of the two teams. By the way, the football teams aren't enjoying their best times either, thus leaving volleyball (although very arguably due to Levski Ball's status and appearance) as almost the only source of derby between Levski and CSKA. There was a show match between veterans before that, Vladimir Nikolov and Nayden Naydenov took part for Levski, whereas Lyubo Ganev and some other guys played for CSKA.

Not much to say about the game, CSKA is the better team this year, but their problems with concentration are well-known, hence Levski was able again to steal a set and almost sent the match into a decider.

Vlado Nikolov openly admitted that Levski didn't play with enough motivation against Dobrudzha "at home" (I am putting it that way because Levski doesn't actually have their own sports hall or a single place for home matches; I think they have used 3 or 4 halls for the purpose this season) in order to finish sixth and avoid CSKA and Neftochimik in the play-offs. He claimed he made the decision himself because the club is not as strong as it should be. With this kind of self-confidence you can now understand why Levski was rarely considered a favourite and why the team will fail in the long run.

Meanwhile, a better set ratio, mainly thanks to that lost set by Dobrduzha in Sofia against Levski, helped Montana finish second, a place above the Dobrich-based squad.

  • The quarterfinal play-offs start today, the formula is pretty straightforward, best of 3 series.

Highlights for CSKA vs. Neftochimik 2010: Dailymotion link

The first semifinal matches were played yesterday, today the venues for the second ones are the same. CSKA vs. Neftochimik 2010 will be again on TV, Diema Sport will broadcast the match at 18 CET. A very solid performance by Neftochimik, especially at the net where they scored 15 blocks, Nikolay Nikolov with 9 alone. They didn't show a perfect game, but were very compact and focused throughout most of the encounter, apart from the beginning of set 3. CSKA, on the other side, was a shadow of the team that won the regular season. The only thing that partially worked was their reception, they made a lot of errors from the service line and were impotent in attack. The game was on a good level overall, but CSKA could surely contribute more to the sparkle of this semifinal. It is considered the highlights of the season, after all. The winner here will most probably win the title.

The NT head coach Plamen Konstantinov is in Bulgaria for a week, thanks to the gap in the Russian league before the last round. He watched the match in Pernik (CSKA vs. Neftochimik was played in Pernik) live and will travel to Montana today to watch the other tie live. This has to do, of course, with the NT selection.

Very good words for Neftochimik's libero Martin Ivanov, even if he didn't have super much work in that first leg. Nikolay Nikolov was omnipresent at the net, whereas the Bratoev twins did enough for the win but are not in their best shape. Valentin's numbers in attack have been solid for a while, but it is obvious he lacks match practise and doesn't look as fresh as he once used to be. Georgi enjoyed a good match, with great contribution at the net, but he is also far from in-form. Some tactical mistakes were obvious, plus a few inaccuracies. This might have been OK against the disappointing CSKA side yesterday, but he can show more.

  • Montana - Dobrudzha 07 3-2 (2-0) (25-21, 24-26, 25-23, 22-25, 15-12) stats
    CSKA - Neftochimik 2010 2-3 (0-2) (25-23, 23-25, 26-24, 16-25, 18-20 )

    Dobrudzha 07 - Montana 0-3 (0-3) (21-25, 14-25, 18-25)
    Neftochimik 2010 - CSKA 3-1 (3-0) (25-23, 25-23, 21-25, 25-23)

Final play-offs (Best of 5 series):

    Montana vs. Neftochimik 2010

The final series starts on 11.04 in Montana. Dobrudzha played much better away in Montana, despite the two defeats. They were a shadow at home on the weekend, Montana closed the series without any problems. The biggest suicide in the semis was committed by CSKA. In Pernik, the Reds dropped a 14-11 advantage in the tie-break in the second match, lost the game and had a mountain to climb in Burgas. Neftochimik only needed one chance, of course. That second match totally decided the outcome of the tie in favour of the visitors, although, truth be told, they were better and more prepared than CSKA overall. The Bratoev twins did everything they could in the third set of that match to extend the series and increase the drama by gifting CSKA a series of points. This episode showed the twins in their worst moment together (not for the first time). They had enough chances and support to recover and win the series, though. Quality players who are quite often a pain in your own ass, I beg your pardon.

The selection of Neftochimik is a favourite to win the title now that CSKA is gone. Montana is a smart opponent, though, nothing will be taken for granted yet. I will be curious to watch the setters' battle, Agontsev vs. Bratoev.

  • Hebar from the city of Pazardzhik, one of the cradles of tradition in Bulgarian volleyball, got promoted to the Superleague by winning the second division. They were the best team, recruited some professional players, attracted sponsors, and already demonstrated a good level to play among the profis during the summer preparation and the friendlies. They challenged Neftochimik 2010 at home for the Cup, close set margins in the 0-3 defeat, and enjoyed home crowd support that a few teams from the top tier could only wish for. I am glad they won the play-offs as they will not only add quality but also did the whole thing as one would expect them to - against the amateurs first and then win promotion, not administratively. Similar was the case with Teteven Volley two years ago, they have been doing well in the top tier since.

Hebar beat Dorostol from Silistra in the final of the second league with 2-1 wins.

    Relegation play-out (one match):

    Played in Burgas

    Arda - Dorostol 3-1 (25-16, 25-22, 21-25, 25-18 )

    Arda keeps its Superleague spot.
