European League 2007

  • Ï'd like to know which teams take part of the european league... it looks like those that didn't qualify for the World League play this tournament. Can anyone confirm this information?

  • Yes Celso, you're right.
If I'm not wrong this tournament is played from 2004.
    2004 - 1. Czech Rep. 2. Russia 3. The Netherlands
    2005 - 1. Russia 2. Finland 3. Spain
    2006 - 1. The Netherlands 2. Croatia 3. Greece

I don't think that is true. There are some teams that didn't even tried to qualify for the world leaugue (If a qualification for the World Leaugue even exits). And again the difference between those two competitions is ...a lot of money. I think only to participate, the World Leaugue is 12500 Euro more than the European Leaugue.

Is there any news of broadcasting the games on Eurosport or other television programs? :?:

  • Spain is the new European League champion, claiming a hard fought tie-break victory (20-18!) over Portugal in the European League Final in Portimão (POR). The Spanish formation continued their string of success, showing no fear towards the home team. It was the best result for the Spaniards since their 4th place at the 2005 European Championship and their bronze medal in European League two years ago. Slovakia secured the third place with a 3:1 victory over Slovenia.

    Gold medal match
    PORTUGAL - SPAIN 2:3 (25-21, 18-25, 22-25, 25-19, 18-20)
    Bronze medal match
    SLOVENIA - SLOVAKIA 1:3 (18-25, 25-20, 19-25, 18-25)

    Individual awards:
    MVP: Guillermo Falasca (ESP)
    Best Scorer: Guillermo Falasca (ESP)
    Best Server: André Lopes (POR)
    Best Spiker: Hugo Gaspar (POR)
    Best Blocker: Emanuel Kohut (SVK)
    Best Setter: Michal Masny (SVK)
    Best Receiver: Israel Rodriquez (ESP)

  • Congratulations for Spain. I'm surprised by performance of Slovakia and Slovenia.
