Display MoreAll I know is what I've read at Bruno Voloch's blog, so you should take it with a grain of salt, cause we never know how he "discovers" things and he's known for stirring controversy just for the sake of it.
One thing that sounds funny is the fact that after coming to Brazil to train for a while, Raphael went back to Italy, cause Trentino asked, because of the World Championship of Clubs, and apparently the brazilian staff had no intention of taking him to the south american championship if he wasn't going to stick around for the PanAmerican Games, and that's when the conflict happens, regarding his participation the World Champ of Clubs. So, it remains unknown why Trentino and brazilian NT hadn't sorted out this before he even came for the trainings. He went back to Italy already. Those are the facts.
So, for the rumors... Voloch says that Bernardo would take Rapha as setter to the South American Champs because of the pressure he's under. I think it's pretty stablished that for a NT that can count on such great talent in this position, Bruno and Marlon are not playing good enough. But according to the blogger, Bernardo had no intention to take Rapha to the World Cup. It seems that since Trentino asked for Rapha to be dismissed, the staff didn't opose to that, and we'll continue with both Bruno and Marlon til the year ends. Voloch also said that maybe Bernardo will leave the NT after the Olympics, cause he alegedly feels unable to motivate the guys to work as hard as they did in the past, or something like that. Also, in a recent past, I don't think people ever thought he'd leave the team this early, but now, ever since that whole fiasco of last year's WCH, maybe the support he's got is not unanimous, as it seemed. I don't think there's any other source that either denies or confirms these rumors.
Also, maybe Giba won't play the tournament because he's injured. Gustavo probably will be back. I think I've read somewhere that Bernardo will make the roster public this saturday.
I don't know what in this is true and what's not. But as to my opinion, I think it's a pity that Rapha won't get to play for the NT, cause I think he could bring something else to the table. If it was up to me, he'd be in NT without a doubt, and Marlon and Bruno could fight for the second spot. Our setters could play a lot better. A chance to William wouldn't hurt, also. The opposite spot seems also a weak point. But I don't have high expectations that the group will suffer significative changes. That's the way they've done it all the way.
I talked with joanamss, she told me about this journalist, too. We have in Poland similar journalists, who just want to make sensation by lying
Yeah, I was suprised of Raphael, too, because I thought, that coach will give him a chance to play on SA Champs. He was one of the reasons, for which I really wanted to watch this tournament. I know, that he back to Trento, I've heard, that club gave him for this 12 days. I saw a part from the friendly match between Brazil and Japan, if I remember well he played in one set, and his performance was pretty good. I don't want to slander Marlon, but I think, that he is worse setter than Raphael. I'm talking about Marlon, because position of Bruno in the NT is impregnable, I guess.
Bernardo will leave a team?! No way! I can't imagine Brazil team without this coach. But I think, that is some truth in this. I see(maybe just I), that he doesn't have an effect on them as it once was. Anyway, when Brazil doesn't win, everyone thinks, that something wrong is happening. I can say, that they didn't won a gold medal in World League, and it's mean, that they have a conflict, or smt like this, so maybe it's just my imagination
Ulala, I wonder about the rivalry between middle blockers. I can't wait for the roster, because this position interesting me so much Oh, and I hope to see Thiago again.
Thanks a loooot for these informations. I more calm now
