2014 FIVB World Championship - Poland - 8/30

  • I'm confused. I found no source stating that A and D will play in one pool in 2nd round. I thought there would be another round of draw of lots.
Do you have sources confirming this? Thanks.

that was in the video they showed during the draw ceremony. 8) it also makes sense with their serpentine system

  • Second round
Group E (A+D) in Lodz and Bydgoszcz
Group F (B+C) in Katowice and Wroclaw

    Third round
Group G + H in Krakow and Lodz

    Semifinals and Finals
    in Katowice

So it seems, that this is correct.
The draw, which Martee mentioned, will take place after second round. The winners of group E and F will be seeded on top of group G and H. The other four teams, who qualified for third round, will be drawn to the groups.

There is also an english wikipedia site: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2…World_Championship#Squads

  • FIVB also confirmed schedule of First Round :super:

  • Tomorrow starts tickets' selling. Prices are between 20 (the cheappest) and 500 (the most expensive) PLN, so it means 7-170 $ or 5-125 €. We'll have 3 categories of tickets: for a single match, for two matches in a row and "Venue ticket" - for all matches held during a phase in chosen hall. Polish supporters are complaining about prices  :call:

Really? To me that pricing is quite reasonable. The ticket fare for World League matches in Chicago is $30 per match...

  • Wow, would USA be in shape for the matches in Varna with this qualification a week before? I hope they will travel in first class to Bulgaria, or they will be tired.

  • USA beats Haiti 3-0 (25-7 25-10 25-15), while Canada beats Trinidad & Tobago 3-0 (25-13 25-11 25-21).

These qualifiers and the way they are held are just meaningless. The only question is whether Mexico will make it as a fifth NORCECA representative.

Agree, in womens tournament's in NORCECA zone it looks the same - it was rather obvious that USA and Dominican Republic will advance without no doubts - tonight they'll play in finals and they'll win it. Cuba has already qualified even with next escapes from team. Canada and Puerto Rico (Mexico fo Canada and Costa Rica for Puerto Rico) have more challenging opponents, but also should advance.

And in men's competition USA and Canada will advance, Cuba the same and ikn last pool we have Puerto Rico and Mexico - here we may have a battle.

Yes, USA is definitely NORCECA1 team ^^ Canada probably will be in Pool C (they're 3rd-ranked from NORCECA countries and should qualify tonight), while Cuba should find a place in Pool B (2nd-raked by FIVB, they'll play in qualifications in this week ^^)

  • Canada just defeated Costa Rica 3-0 (25-14, 25-15, 25-16) to go to the World Championships.

This should place them in Group C as Norceca 3. Cuba would be Norceca 2 if they win their qualification group.
