2014 FIVB Club World Championship - Brazil - 5/5

  • Finally, Belogorie seems to be better in track now and honestly, i wouldn't like to be in their place.

You play against a team which everyone says you should beat, nothing is working, your oponent has a lot of fun, playing great without any pressure, and for you, everything is just hard work.....

I guess everyone who already played competitive team sports knows this situation, from one side or the other

    Belgorod takes 2nd set 25:21

  • OK, i am going to bed. Belogrod is leading 16:10 and they should bring this home now.

In the end they played not in big style but very professionally..........

  • Congratuations for Belgorie :cup: in last set conglomerate from Qatar just stopped playing. Both Grozer and Muserskiy with 18 points, both are main candidates for MVP of tournament ^^

For me it would be ok if eitehr Grozer or Muserskiy gets this award ^^ both definitely deserve to be in all-star line-up

    FIVB :wall: :wall:
    Grozer????

  • Al-Rayan did the impossible without a coach with the tactics in the mind of Raphael and individual class. Beating Belogorie which has matching individual class (Muserskiy vs Simon, Tetyukhin or Khtei vs Kaziyski, Travica vs Raphael, Grozer vs Bozhulev and other players who outmatch the Katari players) and is a team, whitch played together this year to win 2 trophies - that would be beyond the impossible.

  • And Muserskiy got MVP again  without injuries he may be unstoppable for many years. On the other hand Grozer didn't get it

  • All teams deserved to win this title, BUT AL RAYYAN.

Al Rayyan is a big Joke, supported by the FIVB. In no other sports are happenning such ridiculous things, that Teams getting a wild Card/ signing new Players for just one week. It makes no sense.

Qatar (the whole Nation) is a joke, but the biggest Joke will come in 2022

  • The difference between Simon and Musersky is block . Simon isn't a dominant blocker.

That's problem with most cuban players. They don't use their fantastic verticals to be the best blockers, I don't know why.

  • Technique is an important element in blocking. Obviously, Cuban players mostly rely on their physical advantage, and haven't paid enough attention to develop their skills.

Cuban physical characteristics are well-known, not really worth discussing, but I have a slightly different opinion about blocking. Some of the older forum members perhaps could give me a hand here, but tell me a good Cuban blocker? Because I thought for a while and couldn't come up with a name. They are extremely athletic, can drill a hole on the court, but blocking is not really their strength. And I think it's because of their school. They are natural talents, but lack in terms of tactics. Either they don't teach in their school properly, or perhaps they've never had a good coach to lay the foundations of a thorough tactical preparation. And actually both are somewhat true because of their domestic league (lasts a month or two, consists of a few teams, not really an existing league) and because of the way their federation handles volleyball over there. I mean they mostly get only local coaches.

Agree, we don't have well-known Cuban players specialised in terms of good blocking, they base on their vigor, power and jumping skills, not caring much about tactics etc. Moreover, looking for Cuban MBs, except Simon it's hard to find a star MB in last years. We had Osmany Camejo who disappeared and Dominico Odelvis, who's coming to 40 and he's playing in Kazakhstan now... Best Cuabn players are mostly OH/OP and Simon is an exception, but his advantages are spiking and serve, definitely not blocking...
