  • Interview with Daniele Bagnoli an Italian coach who became a coach of Dinamo Moscow.*
*the interview was given before the first match in Superleague

You have already become acquainted with the team. What are your first impressions?
    - Have become acquainted - these words are too big. I can say that I and the team are only on the first stage of acquaintance. However, I think that this stage will end very quickly: nothing makes people closer than working together. And we will work a lot.
It's always quite difficult to start working with a new team. Especially in Russia. The training programme in Italy is different from the one in Russia and now I'm trying to understand the form of organization, the way of communing on the field - they are details which constitute the basis of every team's game. If everything meshes, it won't be only my credit. I'm grateful to Jarosław Wiktorowicz (the second coach of the team), the management of the club and the players for help.

And how did the team receive a new coach?
    - You should ask the players about that (laughts). The boys work really hard - it is nice to look at them. Ambition emanates from them and they have great potential. The results in the European Championships, where the national team won a silver and two members of Dynamo won individual awards, tell a lot. It was a good start and a serious prognosis for the future.

Do you know who will be the capitan of the team?
    - I think Jurij Biereżko who is considered to be the best attacker of the championsip and made a major step forward. However the final decision will be made after the team comes back from Novosibirsk.

When do you expect first results of your work with the team?
    - It depends on how we define a result. We are flying to Novosibirsk and we are playing there the first match in this season. It is a very important meeting, especially from the psychological point of viev. This match will enable us to evaluate our preparation for the championships. We are making changes in the team's tactics and technique. On Ausust 1st I had at my disposal only players from the second team of Dynamo because the major players were on a national team training camp. They came back a few days ago and Alan (libero) joined us even later.

Have you been to Moscow before?
    - Yes and no. Of course I was here during various championships. I was here among others in 2001. I was in Łużniki when we played a match in Champons League. However, I saw Moscow only through the bus window on my way to the stadium and back. I surely know your aiport Szeriemietjewo the best. Therefore, I can say that I'm a newcomer in Moscow.

How do you feel as a resident of Moscow?
    - It is difficult to answer explicitly. I feel as if I had come from the provinces. I was born in a small town and for the most part of my life I lived in small towns so I got used to their slow rhythm. Moscow is big. Like earlier - I have little time for sightseeing. You can talk about local drivers for hours.

    Are you a driver?
    - Yes and I dare to say that I'm a good driver. Everywhere I lived, the situation was different. Now I feel like on race and I'm fighting to survive. Driving is not an easy thing. However, it isn't the most important thing. I have become to Moscow not to drive a car but to make Dynamo the best team in Europe.

    Have you come with family?
    - Yes, of course. I have signed a two-year contract with the club. I didn't want to part with my wife for such a long time. What is more, she feels at home in Moscow. My wife was born in Russia and, although she lived in Italy for the most part of her life, she will always consider herself Russian.

How important are fans for you?
    - We always need support, especialy players. Great sport - first of all it means a show. There is no person who is indifferent looking at fierce struggle. Both fans' and players' emotions are stirred up and sometimes they make impossible things possible to happen.

Haha, ok. Good for Berezhko that Kazijski left Dinamo so Berezhko have the opportunity to play. :)

yeah! With Alan Dynamo improved reception, i can't say the same thing about Salparov, after Henno he was a bad choice without doubt

Hahah, are you kidding me, did you see what Salparov did with "your" balls ( Bulgaria - Russia WC 2007) despite all the help you usually receive by you know who... Salparov is one of the best liberos in the world among with Sergio and Lambourne, Gacek also is good. I hope the next year when Trento will play in Champions League most probably, to face Dinamo there, to see if Alan can cope up with Kazyisky, Nikolov, Winiarski and etc. And to make clear at the end (according to the saying of Vladimir Alekno about Kazyisky and Berezhko) who is better - Kazyisky or Berezhko. :)

I didn't say nothing gainst Matey, he is one of my favourite players and a lot of russian people love him. I told you that here there is one fan who named his first son in his honour. Yes, Salparov played very good in World Cup, but what do u say about World League. European Championship? I was in the hall, it was awful. I don't know but Salparov didn't manage to recieve Stanley's serve. It was a good check of his possibilities. Yes, we will see how your Matey will be able to recieve some easy serve (it's his weakness without doubt, i can make this conclusion after his 2 years in Russia...) That day Bulgarian NT played better than Russian one. But it was only unexpectedness. During EC in Moscow i was very surprised why so talented team hadn't shown absolutely NOTHING???
It was your day in Japan, nothing else. Don´t exaggerate the posibilities of your players. They aren't robots, each person can commit error. We didn't serve powerfully as usual because of the hall i think.
And one question.. Who was the best libero of World Championship?? Teodor? I don't think so. He has to train a lot. Why Dynamo did't prolong contract with him after EC??

  • Gottlib, my friend, Dynamo didn't prolonge a new contract because they were mad that Kazyisky is going to play for Trento and is leaving their team, it was so unfair what they've done, and in WC Teodor was at 2nd place after Sergio, who is super player. And in EC THE REFFEREES GAVE YOU THE FIRST SET MAN, check it, it was 20:23 and a block by Dani Milushev they gave it out, how can it be, bulshits. If Bulgaria had won the first set you can't tell what would have the result been. World League - match against Brazil - great Salparov in it. To be honest (you haveto admit that) Bulgaria didn't play bad neither on Euro nor in WL but we didn't get good places. Is there more stupid rules than this in WL, Bulgaria, Russia and Brazil had 1 win, 1 loss, say why Russia and Brazil deserved more, according to some stupid rules, there should be 3 matches, not 2. I am not commenting Euro - Bulgaria, Italy, Finland with 4 wins and 2 losses.
