Greece - HVL 2008/2009

  • Very interesting semifinals today, what is the situation with teams, heard that are many players in doubt. Can someone from Greece write some updates. Tnx

    Very intreresting games, indeed.
Panathinaikos had some problems with Agamez and Andreadis, but today I read that they will both play.
In Iraklis, Plamen Konstantinov has a problem with his shoulder and I really don't know if he's going to play.
Tom Hoff from Olympiakos is OK now.
In EA Patron, Yordanov is out and Novotny has a problem with his knee, but he will play.

  • Play-off Semifinals - 1st Game

    Play-outs Standings (after 5 games)

  • In both Semifinals series, everything seems to be clear now. Panathinaikos and Olympiakos have the advantage and they will reach the final. If not, it would be a big surprise.
Olympiakos is clearly better than EA Patron. But EA Patron plays without Boyan Yordanov, so it was difficult for them to beat Olympiakos.
In the series between Panathinaikos and Iraklis, things are more tight. The two teams seem to be equal, but Panathinaikos' players are more concentrated and make less mistakes than Iraklis. In both games, Iraklis is up with 2-1 sets and at the end Panathinaikos is the winner with 3-2. I don't know what is happening with my team. I hope we can turn things around, but I'm not very optimistic.

  • displeased for Iraklis, i hope they can turn this semifinal in a 3-2 for them, but this Panathinaikos is really strong, and seems to me also more prepared(psychologically) for these battles.

  • Panathinaikos completed 3 victories in 3 games against Iraklis Thessalonikis an now will play against Olympiakos for the Greek Championship.

    First final on Monday(27/4)

  • I've watched second game Iraklis - PAO and interview with Tischer after game. As i understood they have played 4 times this season, in all 4 games Iraklis leading 2-1 and lost 3-2, they have complex of PAO despite they are better team. Its incredible for professionals to admit something like that, but it shouldnt be happening to lose against weaker opponent only cause of psychological reasons. Sad story for Iraklis and their players. After all then you dont deserve anything. In CL they have beaten much better teams than PAO is.

  • Iraklis had many problems during the play offs , i can`t say that we were better than panathinaikos.

Without Plame Konstantinov our reception was very bad (no attack from the center) and also Tischer lost a very good option in attack. So we were left with only two options Ahrem and Nilson. Panathinaikos new this and the block was set up accordingly Add to this that Nilson was in a pretty bad form.

On the other side panathinaikos` roster is not that better but Agamez was enough to make the difference cause it is very difficult to block him.

Generaly Iraklis hasn`t played good the whole season. They had some good games mainly in CL but without any consistency.

2009-10 will be the first time after 9 seasons tha iraklis won`t participate in CL (99% certain)

  • Play-off Semifinals - 3rd Game

    Olympiakos - EA Patron : 3-0 (25-21, 25-23, 25-20) stats (3-0)

    Play-off for Places 5-8 - 2nd Game

    Lamia - Foinikas Syrou : 0-3 (23-25, 15-25, 21-25) stats (0-2)
    PAOK - Aris : 3-2 (25-19, 25-27, 25-14, 21-25, 18-16) stats (1-1)

    Play-off for Places 5-8 - 3rd Game

    Aris - PAOK : 3-0 (25-22, 25-17, 25-21) stats (2-1)

    Play-outs

    Apollon Kalamarias - AONS Milon : 3-1 (26-24, 19-25, 25-15, 25-15) stats

AO Kifisias and Apollon Kalamarias remain to A1 Division.

Aris and Foinikas Syrou will compete for the 5th place and a ticket for next year's Challenge Cup.

    And of course, the Finals.
Yesterday Olympiakos won easily the first game :

    Panathinaikos - Olympiakos : 0-3 (22-25, 20-25, 27-29) stats (0-1)

The programme of the rest of the Finals :

    Olympiakos - Panathinaikos : 30/04/2009
    Panathinaikos - Olympiakos : 04/05/2009
    Olympiakos - Panathinaikos : 07/05/2009 (if needed)
    Panathinaikos - Olympiakos : 11/05/2009 (if needed)

  • It was a clear victory for Olympiakos.Only Agamez and Depestele played a good game for Panathinaikos.Herpe and Andrae :wall:

  • Panathinaikos - Olympiakos : 0-3 (22-25, 20-25, 27-29)

quite a surprise for me :what:

Olympiakos is of course strong, but defeat Pao at home 3-0 is not so easy...

  • Olympiakos won easily again. Now, they are one win away from the championship.
They totally deserve it. They are the best team in Greece. They won the Greek Cup and now they are ready to win the championship, too.
Panathinaikos is in very bad shape and I simply can't understand how Iraklis lost the semifinal series against them.

  • It's sad that Iraklis lost.

Anyway, I think Olympiakos deserves to win this series. Go Ivan. :cup:
