This Dornelas guy is best scorer of Greek league, and i found he played only in not so good clubs as Lennik and Benfica. Someone know anything more about him ?(

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ARXGlKKAkT8 He seems to jump quite high, doesn't seem to have that much power, but other than this movie I have never heard of him.

  • All Greek volleyball teams stop to play!
    Written by Georgios Chouris

All teams in Greece decided to stop participating at the Championship's games because the government did not pay them money.

Greek volleyball league will not continue until all the teams will be paid. Greek goverment did not pay government grant to the clubs also for the previous season. The grant is about 250 000 euro per year. Proposal of the clubs is to make one payment of 50 000 euro to all clubs.

Let´s see the 6th round results...

Lamia beat Panathinaikos 3-1 (25-22, 22-25, 25-16, 25-23) in the last game of 6th round in Greek championship. Panathinaikos played without Lappas and finally lost the first game in the season.

Andreopoulos Lamia’s head coach after the game said that he was sure about his team victory which was the first win against Panathinaikos in the team’s history. William Price was the MVP of the match scoring 18 points. The result helps PAOK to stay alone in the first position of the standings.

In Saturday’s games Iraklis easily won 3-0 over Aris (32-30, 25-19, 25-17). Rodrigo Quiroga and Billings scored from11 points each and Ryan Jay Owens had also great performance.

PAOK did not find any difficulties to win 3-0 (25-17, 25-16, 25-22) over Panellinios. From the team of PAOK Lins De Sousa scored 14 points.

Finally in Alexandroupoli's game the local team Ethnikos won 3-1 (25-16, 25-16, 20-25, 25-23) over Epikouros with Ivan Raic scoring 20 and Al Nabhan 16 points.

Although Olympiakos had to play without Despaigne the team was in a great day in the game against Apollon Kalamarias and finaly won 3-0 (25-16, 25-13, 25-19) with Dimitris Tzouric scoring 21 points.

On Monday's game EAPatron won 3-1 (20-25, 23-25, 25-18, 16-25) over Kifisia with the Brazilian star Pedro Dornellas scoring 17 points.

There is a big battle between Panathinaikos and PAOK in Athens for the 7th round but nobody can say when this round will begin.

  • It's hard to be a Greek volleyball player today. Financial problems is not the only problem, the whole country has a one giant problem with debts. It's a pity, because it was the third strongest league, and now it's falling apart.

  • Iraklis won big battle over Panathinaikos
Iraklis Thessaloniki’s was the big winner of the Thursdays’ battle in Athens. Having his two American stars Ryan Jay Owens and Brook Billings in a great day scoring from 21 points each.

The team of Thessaloniki won 3-1 (22-25, 21-25, 25-22, 15-25) and finally take the first place in standings from Panathinaikos. Andreas Kravarik was also very effective. The middle blocker of Iraklis said at the end of the game that it was a great victory against one of the best team in Greece but they have to work ever harder to reach their maximum performance at the rest of the championship. Axilleas Papadimitriou the libero of Panathinaikos said that it was time for the team to lose one game and that it is not easy to win every game using the same players in Greek and European Championships.
On Tuesday’s game in Thessaloniki PAOK easily won 3-0 (25-15, 25-29, 25-23) over Ethnikos Alexandroupolis. The following day with in same town with the same score two matches took place. In the first one Aris won 3-0 (25-22, 25-14, 25-19) over Apollon Kalamarias and in the second Olympiakos beat 3-0 (21-25, 22-25, 30-32) Epikouros Polichnis.

In other games EAPatron won 3-1 (25-27, 25-19, 25-18, 25-15) over Lamia in the last game of American middle-blocker Andy Hein with Lamia’s team and Panellinios made his second victory in the championship beating 3-0 (26-24, 25-22, 25-23) Kifisia.

Next round matches are on the 29th of December.

Rumors from Thessaloniki said that Nikos Roumeliotis the captain of Aris and national team of Greece will have to leave his team after an economical disagreement with the president of the team. Finally we have to remind that many players of Panathinaikos, Olympiakos, Iraklis, EAP and Aris are also facing economical problems.

I saw him when he was playing for Lennik. It's a good opposite who can score many balls. He's strong in attack and good in blocking and serving if I good remember ;-) He's a very complete player.
I have some stats when he was playing in the belgian league. He was second best scorer with 527 points just behind star player simovski. He killed 444/936 in attack (47,4%),made 40 kill blocks and was third best server with 43 aces for 63 errors ;-)

  • And he did it 8 rounds and then disappeared :white:

Now guy named Sean Faiga is playing opposite for Ethnikos, but anyone know what happened to Raic ?(

I think Raic is still player of Ethnikos but he does not paly because of an injury at his back.He will stay to Alexandroupoli to continue the rehabilitation. That's why the people of Ethnikos called Sean Faiga from Israel(new star 22 years old) who was playing in Korea but he couldn't stay anymore there.

Nikolaos Smaragdis MB(NT Greece) is a new player of Iraklis Thessalonikis.

  • The guys from Oly seem to be doing great without Zhekov. Can't say I'm surprised at all :D

  • Yes, the most consistent player in Bulgarian NT is our biggest enemy - not the technically imperfect midfielders or incapable of playing fast set balls opposites
And you know what - Boyan Yordanov doesn't play over 70% in attack anymore, because of the absence of Zhekov
