  • Wing attackers Kim Hak-min of the Korean Air Jumbos was named the season’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the Korean volleyball league (V-League).

Kim received 31 at the Korean Volleyball Federation (KOVO) award ceremony held at the 63 City Building in Yeoido, Seoul.

Kim with a league-high 55.65 attacking percentage was acknowledged for leading the Jumbos to win the regular season.

Kim previously said he doubted he would win the award after the Jumbos lost the best-of seven championship series 4-0 against the Samsung BlueFangs led by wing attacker Gavin Schmitt of Canada, who won the highest-scorer award.

“I wasn’t sure whether I could be a winner,” he said.

“I was really stressed out when we suffered straight losses to the BlueFangs, because I don’t think I did much for the Jumbos.

“I would regard this prize as encouragement to become a better player, and will put forth my utmost efforts,” he added.

Schmitt followed Kim in second-place with nine votes.

The poll was conducted by KOVO reporters and executive members.
