French Ligue A 2011/2012 season

  • Bartik condition is still same? I mean on ankle support? Beauvais lost 2 matches in row, tommorow they play in Lille but I'm not confident about them at all. TLM is not brilliant lately but Beauvais looks quite poor :what:

    Comments:

Pitiful game from Beauvais in Tourcoing and great victory for Nantes against Montpellier: those are the main results of the week-end. For now in Montpellier, Gromadowski is not more convincing than he was in Paris 2 season before.
Tours had not an easy game against Ajaccio, and you can look at Poitiers either like they lost a point against Sète, or they won two points there, depending on what you consider is the real value of Sète. Anyway since Rennes, and Cannes both struggle, the good news is for Tours/Poitiers who now have a 10 points head, and Nantes that is back at the level of the main play-off contenders.

There is now a 4 points gap between the best 10 and Paris, and unless Paris comes back quickly in the race, they might be out of the playoff pretty early...

    Comments:

Main results is obviously the victory of Poitiers against Tours. However Tours was appearing better than Poitiers until David Konecny had to leave the game after an injury at 8-8 in the 4th set. The victory of Ajaccio against Beauvais is an other blow for Beauvais, but a good news for the Corsican team. The victory of Nantes in Tourcoing is also quite a good result. Montpellier and Sète both got 3 points against weaker opponents which is very important since the ranking of playoff teams is so tight.

This teams have 10 days to show that they can be clear and finish the season!

About the financial trouble of Poitiers, it looks like nothing new. Poitiers had a 270 000 € deficit from 2 seasons ago. This bad finances lead to a 2 points penalty last season, and they had to get 85 000 € benefit so they could reimburse some of the debt. Yet they where a bit short and only manage a 79 000€ benefit. As a consequence they now have an other penalty (a 11 000€ fine) for not making enough efforts to reimburse the debt. But on the long run, the club is not really in danger. It could only lead the team to make a few more cuts.
The relegation decision looks like it's only some kind of rhetorical threat, and we learn that the same threat had been made last season but were not made public at the time. (rules about publicity changed this season)

I'm not too much worried about Poitiers for now. Maybe it would cost them a good player or two next season, and probably they won't be allowed to recruit a new player this season even in case of an injury, but I don't believe any second they're going to be in Ligue B next season !

The 2 worst teams go directly in Ligue B.

    Comments:

The leader (Poitiers) almost lost to the last team : Lyon. Lyon was leading 2-1 and the 4th set ended at 36-34 ! After Haching, Ajaccio and Harnes, This is the 4th 5 setter for Poitiers in 2012 ! And Poitiers has not had a 3 points game since one month.
As a consequence, Tours is now the best team after an other clean victory against Toulouse.
Sète also clearly dominated Cannes, and Tourcoing had a great victory in Rennes. But the main surprise is Montpellier's defeat in Narbonne.
An other disappointing result for Beauvais (or a good one for Paris), and a rather good for Nantes (or not too bad for Ajaccio).

    Comments:

A surprising result with Cannes's victory against Tours, but Tours managed to win the french cup game 3 days after this one. Otherwise, Sète and Rennes are looking great, but Montpellier is drowning. Paris and Beauvais appearing more and more like they can't reach the playoff this season. And Lyon's fate seems to be going back to Ligue B.

Home teams were dominant in this round. Lyon is one step away from Ligue B next season as they lost two home matches in row against direct rivals while Toulouse got first win after 4 matches. Austrian NT opposite Zass scored 30 pts vs. Ajaccio and led Paris to second victory away from home. Ajaccio is now in relegation zone. Beauvais still going through injury crisis and they couldn't cope with Narbonne. This was third loss for BOUC in row and they slipped in rankings. Tomas Jozefacki made his debut for Narbonne scoring 3 pts from bench. Sete trashed Tourcoing for 4th win in row without losing set. TLM played without important MB Gendrey. Tours returned to victories after 3:0 win over Montpellier who lost 5th match in row after huge injury crisis. Nantes lost first match after 6 wins in row without taking set to Rennes. Rennes is playing great lately and team finally is showing quality and potential. Poitiers is still struggling, now Cannes took one point and this isn't good sign for upcoming match vs Zenit in IECL.
