Bulgarian Superliga 2011/2012

  • :what:
Because you mentioned him in this post and since I'm not following that close our league as I used to do it a couple of years ago, I may have missed why he has stayed here ?(

    oh God :gone:
it is my fault! I appology!
It is Simeon Aleksandrov who I was refering to, not Aleksandar Simeonov. Simeon Aleksandrov is playing in Levski and last year in Lukoil Neftochimik, and he was the one who never played in a foreign club as long as I remember. Aleks Simeonov played last year I think in Russia and then in France and now in Iran. Okie, I hope it is clear now

Ah, no problem, I got it! :win: It's not very hard to get confused with these names

Actually a lot Bulgarian players are playing or have played in Iran..I suppose that they pay well, cause there are not many other incentives to go there, I think :S

    Wild Wild West!

  • Simeon Aleksandrov best scorer :bump:

  • The level of the league is so low. I watched some highlights from Baltic League and must admit that if Selver Tallin were in our league they would win it without problems

  • Sad, although he was a scrub. It's even sadder when the league MVP is playing in Iran, or when teams from Cyprus have no problems beating bulgarian ones

Last year best in the league were Mayo, Todorov and Vulchev, all of them are in good clubs

  • None of the is in a good team

  • Todorov's Gazprom-Ugra is not a bad team, for the rest I agree. None of the others plays in a good team!

But they beat Iran and French third division

  • Last update for 2011. The 11th round was played shortly before Christmas, a few things worth mentioning. A quite surprising win of Victoria Volley in Plovdiv against Arda, the problems of Arda playing away have been acknowledged several times already, another proof this time against the second worst team in the league. Neftochimik were obviously in a good mood to beat Levski in Bourgas, maybe also a bit unexpected based on the ups and downs they have been demonstrating. CVC started moving up in the ranking to reach top 8 after the extremely bad start of the season. They missed a great chance to lift the team's spirit after losing to Nea Salamina in the Challenge Cup from 2-0 to 2-3 last week and thus missing the Golden Set opportunity at home.

Last, an individual praise for Ventsi Ragin who scored 11 (!) blocks in the home defeat of Slavia against the league leaders Pirin.

  • Today was the last day of the winter transfer window in our league. Some interesting moves were registered in the last moment:

    CSKA

    Kamen Kamenov (attacker, Montana)
    Branimir Kostadinov (CSKA Junior team)
Jason Haldane (England, opposite, free agent) registered for the domestic league as well

    Arda

    Petar Uzunov (middle-blocker, free agent)

    Montana

    Veselin Iliev (attacker, CSKA)
    Stefan Torobov (setter, Kozloduy)
    Denis Chavdarov (middle-blocker, Levski Volley)

    Levski Volley

Hristo Tsvetanov (middle-blocker, NT, free agent)

    Neftochimik 2010

Marko Maximovic (Serbia, middle-blocker, Radnicki Kragujevac (Serbia))
Petar Hristov (opposite, free agent) returns after recovering from an injury
Nikolay Naydenov (setter, ex-NT, free agent)
    Nikola Kovachevski (setter, free agent)

    CVC Gabrovo

    Stefan Stoyanov (setter, Levski Volley)
Christian Chitigoi (Romania, attacker, Steaua Bucharest (Romania))

    Slavia

Milan Milanov (attacker, Slavia Junior team)

    Botev Lukovit

    Stoyan Zlatev (attacker/libero, Neftochimik 2010)
Kalin Dimitrov (attacker, Coco Volley Club Gabrovo)

  • The interesting names come from Levski, Neftochimik and Gabrovo. Tsvetanov's return to Bulgaria is intented in order to keep him in gaming practice for the summer tournaments with the NT. However, I think it is a mistake for Hristo, even if this would be better than playing no volleyball at all.

Neftochimik signed with a Serbian middle-blocker who played with Radnicki in the CL last season. Haven't had the chance to watch him, I hope he fits the team. Nikolay Naydenov is needed for his experience and I am sure Plamen Hristov will give him a chance. Petar Hristov used to be one of the best players for our team before he got injured. He has been absent for almost two years and even if I think he can help in some games, I do not expect miracles from him this season as I don't know how well he recovered and how much time he would need to find his shape. About the other Serbians, Nemanja Vidic remains in the club for the second half of the season, but the setter Darko Bojkovic was released due to weak games.

Gabrovo have now three setters after Stoyanov joined in. The more useful transfer is that of Chitigoi who has some games for the Romanian NT, maybe he could help Gabrovo a lot in our relatively undemanding league.
