  • Thanks, Justyna, for updating the results in the first rounds! I finally found some time to do it today, but you were faster :D Btw, I will have the chance to watch some games of Generali live in Unterhaching this season, so I will try to keep you guys updated.

  • Yes, thank you very much Justyna, for keeping german men' s volleyball alive here :wavy: .

This year the top 3, Friedrichshafen, Unterhaching and Berlin seem to be very level and its not so easy to pick a favourite. Moculescu and Paduretu even see Berlin as favourite, as they invested a lot in the roster. Especially Carroll, Kmet and Shoji should improve the team.

By the way, Tille is back in Haching's roster. It was said earlier, that he is just there for training, as long as he hasn't found a new club. Now they have two good liberos. We will see how Paduretu will handle this situation.

Strange result. Thats a bid like Germany would loose to Kenya in women' s World Cup. Moculescu was not in Gotha due to "other urgent obligations....".http://www.vfb-volleyball.de/d…-vfb-friedrichshafen.html (german).

Yeah, I watched Gotha today versus Unterhaching here in Munich to make my Bundesliga debut in the stands  Even though they are not a bad team, they are still a level below Unterhaching and I cannot figure out how come they surprised Friedrichshafen this week. Paduretu even left on the bench Skladany, playing all game with the predictable Den Boer and still won clearly 3-0. It was a one-sided, but quite exciting match actually, I enjoyed it a lot.

Gotha consists of extremely anonymous players and a lot of foreigners, but the attackers Haehner and Hilman plus the libero Kneubuhl made some good impression, with some luck this team might miss the relegation danger. On the other side of the net, Kaliberda had a slow start, but after his first point he was doing whatever he wanted. A totally deservedly MVP award. Just a few last words for probably the most talented young German player Simon Hirsch. He played for a while tonight. It was the first time I am watching him, I remember him doing more than 30 points per game in the Youth and Junior WCHs. He has a good attack, but his technique is still average, no block and reception/defence at the moment. During the warm-up with Cedeno he was receving the ball all over the sports hall :D

    1.12.2011 BERLIN RECYCLING Volleys - Generali Haching 0:3 (18:25 / 19:25 / 14:25) stats

A pretty disappointing result to me! Berlin Volleys made a significant improvement this summer by signing some key players (3 from Unterhaching as well) that should help the team fight with Friedrichshafen and Unterhaching, but it is not working at the moment for whatever reason. I think maybe team chemistry is the main problem, they still cannot show what is expected from them. The German league is such that they have quite easier games against teams in the lower part of the ranking, only a couple of the middle-positioned ones can make some surprise. I definitely expected more in this game from Berlin Volleys, after all they were playing at home against the leader, which has dropped only two sets from the beginning of the domestic season. I doubt Berlin is ready to play in the final yet, Unterhaching looks too strong, Friedrichshafen will most probably prevail to join in the final, but I hope the guys from the capital will at least show some teeth.

Btw, BRV will have three chances in a row to prove they have some higher ambitions and strength to oppose to the favourites. First, this Saturday there is the German Cup quarterfinal in Unterhaching between the hosts and the BRV, I have tickets already, so I hope the match will be more intense than the championship one on 01.12. Then, BRV will face consecutively Friedrichshafen and evivo Dueren away, so these results will indicate how far they have reached.
