  • finally, there's a thread for Bundeslia. The first three rounds(or two?) have been finished, and Berlin Recycling leads the rank without losing a match. But ironically they just lost to Generali Haching for the eighth final of Germany Cup. According to the rosters, it seems that Berlin Recycling and Generali Haching are still the two favorites of this season's champion. VfB Friedrishshafen seems a little inferior to these two teams. By the way, not long ago I just found that VCO Berlin is a team consisting of almost all members from Germany Junior team, and they were all born in between 1993 and 1994. What a young and strange team! Any story about this team? They are definitely from the junior team, and I guess DVV tries to enlarge the scale of Bundesliga, or improve their future national players' level by evolving this team...Just guess :rolll: :rolll: maybe go too wild :woohoo:

  • VCO Berlin - Fhafen: In this match, very interesting to notice that VOC Berlin's cotrainer is Frank Dehne, the previous setter of Germany NT, while these boys' coach in national team,Ulf Quell, is standing as their opponent, being the cotrainer of VfB Friedrichshafen...

  • José Rivera, the 35 year old outside hitter and member of the Puerto Rican national team, joined VfB FRIEDRICHSHAFEN for the current season after playing professionally in many different countries, including Poland, France, Belgium and Greece. In this short interview he discusses the goals he has set for his 2012/2013 campaign with Germany’s most decorated Volleyball club and also about the experience he is enjoying in the 2013 CEV Volleyball Champions League.

Have you settled down in Friedrichshafen and how do you feel with the club and your teammates?
Yes I feel very settled here and the transition has been quite easy. The club is extremely professional and the local officials take care of any of our immediate needs. As an athlete here all we need to worry about is working hard and doing our job. I feel very comfortable with the team and my teammates; everybody is really nice so it makes it easy to adjust to a different environment.

Has something changed in your daily life? You have been a professional Volleyball player for a long time – is it the same routine every year for you?
Not much has changed for me. I have been doing this a long time so every year is similar. As teammates we are still learning each other and this takes time.

Last year VfB lost only four sets in the Bundesliga and won the national cup. Now you lost in Berlin and had problems also against CV MITTELDEUTSCHLAND. To your understanding is the team not fully ready and prepared yet?
I think we still have a long way to get where we want to be but I am confident we are going in the right direction. I think our team and the league have improved from last year and with so many new players on our roster there will be a learning curve. The most important thing for us is to know our goals and work for their achievement. There will be some bumps along the road but the journey is just beginning.

In the 2013 CEV Volleyball Champions League, VfB has edged Hypo Tirol INNSBRUCK 3:2 and lost to Zenit KAZAN in straight sets. Is a win next week against Knack ROESELARE important to make it to the next round?
I think the rest of all of our games are important for qualifying for the next round. I believe the key to winning our next game against ROESELARE is showing that same fighting spirit we had in Innsbruck. We have to believe in ourselves and believe in each other.

What do you want to experience with the team this season?
Mostly I want to experience a sense of accomplishment for the goals we have. It is no secret we want to win the German Cup and the Bundesliga. Anything less than this I would not consider a successful season.

What are your personal goals at this point of your career?
At this point in my career my goal is to help this team become a great side and win titles. This is why I came to Friedrichshafen, nothing more.

Dresden had consecutive two matches in one weekend... :white: that is a so unappropriate timetable......

The match between Haching and Friedriechshafen turned out to be a big clashing...although it's a little late for me to enjoy it.

  • Haching had same situation 2 weeks ago as I remember

What are you guys talking about?
I was at the game on Sunday, a great one indeed. Haching fought well to take the win. VfB finally showing some character after the weak start of the season, but they have a lot of work to do. Quite logically, the most convincing team in the Bundesliga is the one to keep most players - Berlin. They seemed just a little bit stronger at the beginning when they beat Haching in Munich and VfB in Berlin in a week. Now, however, the gap is closing. Berlin aren't used to playing that often - one of the key reasons why they were fresh in the play-offs last year when they had no CL obligations. This year they were lucky enough to meet their main title contenders early on and then enter the sequence Wednesday-Sunday. Their defeat in the German Cup was not surprising. I personally expect more from Friedrichshafen because of the players they have, they are still away from glowing. Good words for Simeonov who is completely new for the league and could be a factor at his age, appears in a good shape as well, otherwise he would most probably have more difficulties in Italy.

8o You lucky guy! So, Yavord, what do you think Harms Yannick. I read the news that he took the chance to play during VfB's last CL match against Knack Roeselare. Is he demonstrating some potential or just a common player, or it's just too early to make any conclusion......

  • I'm talking that Haching played 2 matches (Saturday, Sunday) against weaker clubs :win: can't remeber when it was

    ;) ,I see your point.

  • Result from the quartelfinal of Germany Cup. I have no idea where to put this, so here is a good place. :)

I suppose VfB Friedriechshafen also began to show some tiresome of the continuous playing......besides, Dueren is not that weak..

He doesn't play that often, so I can't really say much. He wasn't used at all in Unterhaching, generally he is the 4th, sometimes even 5th choice when Spaeth, who is a libero otherwise, comes to serve and improve the reception. Because of Batista's absence he got a chance against Roeselare in the CL, but he wasn't that impressive. However, he is still very very young, he'll definitely show us more in the years to come :)
