Germany - Volleyball Bundesliga (VBL) 2014/15

Düren announced their new coach for the new season, which will be Anton Brams (former name Willert)

I have to admit that i have never heard of this guy but considering his age (27 years) his cv looks quite impressive. He managed to assemble some university degrees while being head coach of an amateur team, assistant coach of german youth nt, member of coaching staff of Hawai University and since 2013 he is a member of the coaching staff of USA men NT. "En passant", he still developed two volleyball analyzing programms. John Speraw is cited: "he is a personality which you probably meet only once in your career....." .

1:1 in sets, 16:14 for Berlin. Tight match in Berlin.....

5th set now. The stream is quite fragile tonight, but at the moment it works for me.

And the winner is Berlin.

It was great and entertaining fifth set including a lot of huge rallies and drama.

According to Moculescu, Simon Tischer will be out for the remaining matches. He picked up an injury in the first match. Engaging Toniutti looks like a very good idea now.....

Fantastic match so far. Berlin is coming back from 20:23 to win the first set 26:24. Watching Shoji/Grebennikov playing defense is a real pleasure

Berlin is playing like a well oiled machine now. Zimmermann/Finger for Toniutti/Gontariu on court. Something needs to change for VfB....

Second set for Berlin again, 25:21.
VfB collappsed on reception in the end, but services by K.Shoji (who is playing a very good match tonight) were really good as well.

Third set and match for Berlin, 25:15

That was an almost perfect match by Berlin. Sublime performance by Kawika Shoji, setting and service on a very high level. Friedrichshafen couldn't hold their good level from first set. Only defence is not enough . They lacked of a consistant attacker for the difficult moments.

Fourth match takes place on Thursday, 19.30 CET, in Berlin. After celebrating the title three times in a row in Friedrichshafen, Berlin will be very eager to win the title this time at their home in Max-Schmeling-Halle.

Tonight there will be the 4th match of the final series. Berlin can become champion and Friedrichshafen taking it to a 5th match would truly be a surprise.

Like in last year final series, Friedrichshafen had some bad luck again. They already lost Nic Vogel before the playoffs and then in the first final match Simon Tischer got injured. So they were running a bit out of options. You might say that Toniutti is not a bad replacement but on some occasions you could see that he is still not 100% adapted to the team, which of course is quite normal. But i really do hope that they can pull themselves together and that there will be another good quality match tonight. Max-Schmeling-Halle is almost sold out and for sure there will be a great athmosphere.

And there it is, a fifth match in Friedrichshafen. It looks like i missed a quite dramatic match yesterday. All thumbs up for VfB for delivering such a great fight and even winning in Berlin.

Again, both teams with low attack percentages, Gontariu and Geiler even hardly reach 25%. But unlike the match in Friedrichshafen, obviously the middles of VfB had a good day (Gauna in attack and Günthör in blocking). Good to see as well, that finally in the end of season, Jan Zimmermann spent some time on the court.
Berlin was missing Carroll due to injury (he will be out for the 5th match as well) and neither Dünnes nor Kromm could compensate this. Also Tomas Kmet was not very good yesterday.
