  • There's going to be another team in Superliga this year: Voleisul/Paquetá Esportes, who were vice-champions of last year's Superliga B. They're joining the main league in RJ Vôlei's place. This way, it makes them the second team from the Rio Grande do Sul state (the other one being Canoas Vôlei) and 13th team in next season's Superliga.

  • And just like that, Voleisul/Paquetá is out of Superliga. 8| Apparently CBV messed up and the team wasn't supposed to join the league. CBV being a trainwreck as always...

Anyway, I'm gonna leave all info from the team here at least until Superliga begins. You never know, maybe someone will change their mind. Or Paquetá will win access back like Voltaço did last season.

  • Quarterfinals of Campeonato Paulista are currently on the way. SESI (with Lucarelli) and São Bernardo (with an entirely new roster if compared to last season) are facing each other right now. ETA: SESI won the game 3-0 (25/19, 25/18, 25/15 iirc)

    Vôlei Brasil Kirin
is already qualified to the semis as they were unbeaten in the first leg of the tournament. Other games have already taken place and results were as follows (winners will be decided in a second game with a golden set if necessary):

    São José dos Campos x Santo André 3-1 (25/22, 25/20, 22/25, 25/16)
    Funvic/Taubaté x Rio Claro 3-0 (25/21, 25/20, 25/11)

Speaking of Funvic/Taubaté, they presented their new roster yesterday during an event. Sidão, Lipe, Raphael and Felipe joined the team after finishing the WCH. There are pics available here.

  • CBV has FINALLY released news on the schedule for the competition this year. Superliga will kick off on October 25th (saturday) with a game between Minas Tênis Clube and UFJF, valid for the second round (?(). The following matches valid for the first round will be played throughout the week. Only one game seems to have TV broacast confirmed so far. :aww: Schedule is as follows:

    10/25 - Minas Tênis Clube x UFJF 17:00h
    10/28 - Ziober Maringá x São Bernardo 19:30h
    10/29 - Montes Claros x SESI-SP 19:30h
    10/29 - Voltaço x Vôlei Brasil Kirin 19:30h
    10/29 - Funvic/Taubaté x Minas Tênis Clube 20:00h
10/30 - São José dos Campos x Sada Cruzeiro 21:00 (SporTV)
    11/01 - Vôlei Canoas x Ziober Maringá 18:00

  • Complete schedule: http://www.cbv.com.br/v1/insti…anexos/182anexo2-2014.pdf

I thought the championship wouldn't be decided in a single game anymore

I thought so too. Hopefully it's only a mistake. It's a shame too that only one game from each round will be broadcast on SporTV; I hope the whole non-exclusivity deal with CBV and Globo/SporTV will allow other networks to air the games... (BandSports would be great on Saturdays airing both Italian and Brazilian leagues)

  • Campeonato Paulista QFs (Second Round):

    SESI-SP x São Bernardo 3-0 (25/16, 25/21,25/19)
    Funvic/Taubaté x Rio Claro 3-0 (25/17, 25/17, 25/20)

Both SESI and Taubaté have advanced to the semifinals. SESI will face Vôlei Brasil Kirin and Taubaté will play against the winner of tomorrow's game between São José dos Campos and Santo André.

ETA: As expected, SJdC beat Santo André by 3-0 (28/26, 25/22, 25/18~) and will face Funvic/Taubaté next round.

  • Montes Claros fired coach Carlos Schwanke after only a few games (2 wins and 4 losses) and hired Marcelinho Ramos to replace him. Marcelinho was the coach of Kappersberg/Canoas last year.

Weird decision. Montes Claros has barely played that many matches this year and their roster was just put together a few weeks ago. They have quite a few strong players (Ygor, Salsa, Acácio, Rodriguinho and Poglajen), but you can't win against better and more traditional teams like Minas and Sada out of the blue.

  • This year's league just keeps getting messier...

It was announced today that Voltaço (Volta Redonda) will close doors and will no longer compete in Superliga. The team looks forward to find a new president in order to rebuild and try to come back next year to play the Carioca championship.

Now no one knows what will happen to the calendar. And this comes right after CBV denied access to Voleisul/Paquetá Esportes...

  • who is this Leozao opposite from voltaco? the one that was in Cannes in france like 5 years ago ? what's his full name?

  • who is this Leozao opposite from voltaco? the one that was in Cannes in france like 5 years ago ? what's his full name?

Leonardo Henrique Pinheiro is Voltaço's OPP. The one who played in Cannes was another Leozão (Leonardo Litwinczuk), who's now playing for Funvic/Taubaté. ^^

  • Voleisul/Paquetá Esportes is officially taking Voltaço's spot in Superliga. I hope they don't change anything else this season. :aww: The league starts in two weeks...

In other news. SESI-SP beat Brasil Kirin 3-1 yesterday in the first SFs match of Campeonato Paulista (25/23, 20/25, 30/28, 25/18+). The second game will take place next Friday. Also Funvic/Taubaté and São José dos Campos will play the other semifinal in a little more than two hours from now. I'll update this post with results later.

EDIT: SJC x Funvic 0-3 (16/25, 21/25, 21/25). Nice performances from Thiago Sens, Dante, Rogério Mineiro and Jean. Second game will be on next Saturday.

  • SESI and Funvic/Taubaté will play the finals for Campeonato Paulista. SESI eliminated Vôlei Brasil Kirin by winning the golden set (25/20) after losing the second match by 3-0 (25/22, 25/21, 26/24). Taubaté beat São José dos Campos by 3-1 (23/25, 25/18, 25/23, 25/17).

Meanwhile, Sada Cruzeiro and Minas Tênis Clube will compete for the Campeonato Mineiro title. They eliminated Montes Claros and UFJF respectively today.

ETA: Sada Cruzeiro beat Minas 3-0 (25/15, 25/16, 25/15) and won their fifth Campeonato Mineiro title. Minas didn't stand a chance with their young squad against Sada, but I'm confident they have to potential to fight for a 6th place at least in Superliga, which seems just fine considering their low investment after losing the main sponsor this year.
