2016 FIVB World League

  • Speaking of the Iranian team, apart from Ebadipour who's like an almost sure-in, Mobasheri definitely deserves a spot at Rio. He has a stable performance, has the best reception and defense amongst all Iranian OHs, and can also contribute offensively. Zarini should definitely not be brought to Rio. He's bad in all aspects, making mistakes and mistakes in attacks and reception. I don't see why the coach still inspects his shape. The youngster, Mohammadjavad, is decent in offense, but he's certainly a target for opponents' serves. Ghaemi's shape hasn't been good for a long time, and he's still recovering from a disease. However, he can at least be a backrow specialist, which is what the team needs a lot. Mirzajanpour has never been stable, and is poor in reception as an OH. However, his recent transition towards the Opp position makes him still able to contribute to the team to some extent. He could be a backup choice for both the Opp and OH positions.

Considering a balance between offense and defense, my choice of the four OHs for rio would be:
Ebadipour, Mobasheri, ghaemi, Mohammadjavad / mirzajanpour.

  • The system with the 'hawk eye' was stopped at the frontier, so they use the old methods.

They even had signed a contract with hawk's eye, but the company said that we can't come because of sanctions, (they belong to Sony that I think some of its stock belongs to an American company), although the sanctions are lifted.

  • Behnam Mahmoudi and former teammate in Perugia (Sottile).

  • Slovenia in World League 2017 Division 2 thanks to 3-1 v Germany.

Sets show Germany didn't fight to the last blood drop..

  • I highly appreciate both steps, banning the trumpets :obey: and allowing some ladies to attend. To allow only well selected woman to watch of course can only be the beginning, but at least it shows some good will...... A good article which puts the issue in a bit broader perspective: http://www.playthegame.org/new…s-test-for-womens-rights/

Final of group 3 will take place today (17 CET) and not surprisingly it will be Slovenia vs. Germany. Germany's semi against chinese taipeh wasn't exactly an eye catcher and i will be really surprised if Germany can beat Slovenia today.

No it is not great because normal women are not allowed. Only some special women with full-islamic black dress are allowed and some say that these women are politic men's relatives.
And it can't be the beginning they only bring these women to the stadium to silence FIVB and show we are free.
These women ARE NOT VOLLEYBALL FAN they are like a statue in the stadium no noise no cheer no nothing.

So sad to hear it :(
It was quite clear, though, that they wanted to underline for FIVB that women where there, because the camera went often on their side.

I also noticed that they all had the veil, while if I'm not wrong I remember Iranian women in Italy also without it.

    Congrats to Slovenia :drink:
First two sets were painful to watch. :white: Later it got a little better, but mainly because Slovenia were gently put to sleep by the german team. Still i wouldn't blame the fighting spirit. The way the german team prepared for this, this match was probably a dead race from the beginning. We are not even smarter now about the abilities of the younger players so for me this WL campaign was again just a waste of time. :|

  • Really great match for Serbia :what:
They're playing really awesome even without Atanasijevic :obey:
Enjoy watching the beautiful game

  • It is again give Zaytsev and wait him rescue you. Always relying on individual performance of Zaytsev. So should we give credit Blengini and team Italy for this game?
Zaytsev with 51 attemps, rest of the team 74  Only 30 days left for Rio Olympics ,stil we (plus teams setter Giannelli, blockers Buti ,Birarelli !)don't know if they will use Zaytsev as OH or OPP.

  • I think the victim can't identify the exact offender so all players are arrested as potential offenders . ?( ?(

I read they wanted to do DNA test :(
    What an awful story :(

I wouldn't say that with Ivan OH (so, in all the others matches) we 'always rely on him to rescue the team'. We expect him to be good, of course, but not to win alone.
And today, in the second part of the match, without Osmany and Vettori and with him as Opp is quite normal he is the main high-ball spiker of the team...

[I specify I'm not a fan of Blengini either, to be clear]

BTW, for me in these Teheran matches our savior was Giannelli <3 I would have bet money that in the tie break after the buuu and whistle he would have scored an ace, but I didn't think he would have scored twice xD And when he got back in for the first line, he blocked Uros straight away! :obey:

As for Rio, it's almost sure we'll play with Ivan OH as first choice, but probably also as second opposite.

About the match, a lot of mistakes and imperfections on both sides but quite entertaining overall, imho, especially the 4th set and the tie break.

  • What a match between Brazil and France :white: The first two sets were probably the best from Brazil in this WL (and playing with the bench no less). Meanwhile, Lyneel is doing fantastic on the French side.

  • Great job from Brazil's B team (+ Bruno). :obey:
I'll bite my tongue and give credit to Maurício Borges. Despite some of his usual childish mistakes starting from set 3, he was great and probably booked his ticket to Rio with these last few performances. Sadly I expect Douglas to be cut now, probably getting the Lucarelli treatment in London and only travelling with the team to watch the tournament.

Maurício Souza, though, was clearly the star today. Waiting for the official stats, but it seems like he had 9 blocks today, which is insane against any team, even more against France. :white:

  • France didn't exactly play with their A team either, at least from what i could see. But both played hard and tried to win so i agree that it was quite enjoyable.

USA and russia are going at it as well. 34:32 for USA in first set. Murphy Troy is fighting hard for his place in the team :super:

  • This is turning into the biggest scandal in volleyball history.
Total of eight Cuban volleyball players were arrested. 4 of them in the locker room.
The victim is a Finnish woman . According to Finnish police alleged sexual assault took place in Tampare at the hotel where Cuban team was staying during the night between Friday and Saturday. Finnish police thinks all of the players somehow has participate in this act 8| Police won't let them to leave Finland with other team members.
