MEVZA League 2016/2017

Slovenian team ACH Volley Ljubljana defended title in MEVZA league for 2016/2017 season. Again they were better than Austrian Hypo Tirol Innsbruck after hard battle in 5 sets. For the first time in history both men and women Final Four were held in same city, Zagreb.

11.03.2017 Bystrina SPU NITRA (SVK) - Hypo Tirol INNSBRUCK (AUT) 0:3 (21:25, 23:25, 24:26) stats

11.03.2017 ACH Volley LJUBLJANA (SLO) - Mladost ZAGREB (CRO) 3:1 (21:25, 25:18, 25:21, 25:23) stats

Match for 3rd place

12.03.2017 Mladost ZAGREB (CRO) - Bystrina SPU NITRA (SVK) 0:3 (20:25, 23:25, 25:27) stats

12.03.2017 ACH Volley LJUBLJANA (SLO) - Hypo Tirol INNSBRUCK (AUT) 3:2 (25:15, 17:25, 25:20, 20:25, 15:7) stats

I was on all matches and must admit teams showed really good volleyball, all matches were interesting even 3:0 wins. I can say more about Mladost as club is getting back on a right track. In previous years debts and personal interests were primary in Mladost but after new board arrived situation is much, much better. They repaid all debts, stabilizied club on all levels and I can see them as a growing power in this part of Europe. For sure they won reach CL Final Four like in late 80's and early 90's but I'm sure they won't be just passangers in European competition in following years.
