New beach rules will be tested in 2014

  • In the middle of preparation  , FIVB is coming along with some rules test for 2014:

    • block won't be counted anymore as first touch. That means, after block, three touches are allowed now. Thats the same ruling as for indoor volleyball. This test will come into effect for all World Tour events.
    • On first touch (reception, defence) a "double touch" will be allowed now. That's as well the same ruling as for indoor volleyball. This will only be tested at U21 and U23 World championships.

According to latest announcement the new "block rule" will not be implemented on World Tour. They will test the rule only on "age group beach-volleyball tournaments".
