Men's only. You are free to cover/write/contribute to the female section. Or even the male one, I don't mind :)

  • German Beach National Teams:

    - Jonathan Erdmann/Kay Matysik

    - Markus Böckermann/Mischa Urbatzka

    - Alexander Walkenhorst/Stefan Windscheif

    - Julius Brink/Armin Dollinger

I don't think we will see too many podiums for german men this year. Erdmann/Matysik and Böckeratzka are surely good enough for top ten , but beating the best on a regular base will be a difficult task for them.

We have new pairings with Walkenhorst/Windscheif and Brink/A. Dollinger. Walkenhorst/Windscheif is a promising and talented team, but are they already good enough for the world class? We will see......

Brink changed partner again and is now playing with Armin Dollinger, the younger brother of Sebastian who played last year together with Stefan Windscheif. Brink nearly lost all his world ranking points due to his injury last year. That means, they will have to play qualification. So its really difficult to say what they are capable of playing. I guess we will see them more often on the german tour.

  • Fuzhou Open, China

    22-26 April

    Semifinals:

    Stiekema-Varenhorst (NED) - Nicolai-Lupo (ITA) 0-2 (19-21, 15-21)
    Samoilovs-Smedins (LAT) - Alison-Bruno (BRA) 1-2 (21-13, 21-23, 7-15)

    Bronze medal match:

    Stiekema-Varenhorst (NED) - Samoilovs-Smedins (LAT) 2-1 (17-21, 26-24, 16-14)

    Final:

    Nicolai-Lupo (ITA) - Alison-Bruno (BRA) 2-1 (21-17, 16-21, 15-13)

  • There we go, the 2014 World Tour is underway! First ever title for Nicolai-Lupo, one of the most impressive European teams with constantly good performance. They had made it to a podium finish several times already before they finally gained their gold medals in Fuzhou on Saturday.

    8)
    Me and my predictions.....
Erdmann/Matysik just won the bronce medal in Shanghai, beating Pedro/Emanuel.

We have an all european final between Nicolai/Lupo and Samoilovs/Smedins. The Lavians just took the first set.

    Watch it here: http://www.sportlemon.tv/20140…4da7.01295919-809361.html

  • Congrats to Nicolai/Lupo
They are winning it with 15:12 in third set. That was a very entertaining final :box:

  • Shanghai PPTV Grand Slam, China

    29 April - 3 May

    Semifinals:

    Nicolai-Lupo (ITA) - Pedro-Emanuel (BRA) 2-1 (18-21, 21-13, 15-13)
    Samoilovs-Smedins (LAT) - Erdmann-Matysik (GER) 2-0 (21-19, 21-15)

    Bronze medal match:

    Pedro-Emanuel (BRA) - Erdmann-Matysik (GER) 1-2 (21-15, 19-21, 10-15)

    Final:

    Nicolai-Lupo (ITA) - Samoilovs-Smedins (LAT) 2-1 (24-26, 21-18, 15-12)

  • Puerto Vallarta Open, Mexico

    6 - 10 May

    Semifinals:

    Samoilovs-Smedins (LAT) - Dittelbach-Koreng (GER) 2-0 (21-17, 21-18 )
    Ingrosso P.-Ingrosso M. (ITA) - Virgen-Ontiveros (MEX) 2-0 (28-26, 21-17)

    Bronze medal match:

    Dittelbach-Koreng (GER) - Virgen-Ontiveros (MEX) 1-2 (16-21, 21-18, 19-21)

    Final:

    Samoilovs-Smedins (LAT) - Ingrosso P.-Ingrosso M. (ITA) 2-0 (21-19, 21-15)

  • A second consecutive final between Latvia and Italy, this time Italy was represented by the twins Ingrosso. The 2013 World Tour winners Samoilovs-Smedins with their first trophy in 2014 after the silver in Shanghai last week. First ever FIVB World Tour medal for Mexico achieved by Virgen-Ontiveros. Good beach volleyball despite the numerous Tour's leaders missing. Such will seem to be the case in Anapa for the Open at the end of the month, many prefer the Grand Slams and are probably not going to travel to the Open events.

  • Poland Champion in indoor volleyball Wojciech Włodarczyk will play with U23 World Champion in beach volleyball Bartosz Łosiak in some beach volleyball tours in Poland.

  • Former world and olympic champion Julius Brink yesterday announced that he ends his career with immediate effect. ;(

He was injured for the whole last year, had surgery on the hip but in the end it didn't help. Only 31 years, thats no age for a beach volleyballer......

Bad situation as well for Armin Dollinger who wanted to play this year with Brink.
