For the first time in the FIVB World Tour history we have two teams from the qualifications in the final. A great surprise by the Americans in the 15th all-American World Tour final.

The Hauge GS witnesses first Polish Grand Slam winner dual Fijalek-Prudel (it's kind of hard to believe for me, first Poles ever?) stop Rosenthal-Dalhausser's consecutive winning trend. Congratulations to the pair!

Fijałek and Prudel had been already successful before, they need victories like that to be back among top pairs

They are a top pair and have been for quite some time In The Hague they were seeded sixth after all. What they needed was this first place, now they finally got it.

The gold medallists are back with first serve on 28th August at the Vitoria's Open. From now on, Emanuel will play alongside of Ricardo on the same team while Álvaro Filho will team up with Pedro Solberg.
There's an age issue in my book. Let's see how they can pull through!

Does anyone know how exactly the pool rankings in the preliminary groups of each beach volleyball tournament are determined? What comes after the number of points and wins? The match(es) between the teams with equal amount of points, set ratio, point ratio? I am asking in regards with a situation at the current Sao Paulo Grand Slam in Brazil. Look at the final standings in Pool D:
1 Varenhorst-Nummerdor [13] NED 5 2 1 4 3 1,333 142 136 1,044
2 Guto Carvalhaes-Alliso [29] BRA 5 2 1 4 3 1,333 130 120 1,083
3 Samoilovs-Smedins, J. [4] LAT 5 2 1 4 2 2,000 119 113 1,053
4 Montgomery-Slick [20] USA 3 0 3 2 6 0,333 136 158 0,861It's not super important, of course, but thought a discussion might help me understand the process a bit better. All three teams with 5 points have beaten/lost one other team with the same amount of points, so I thought any of the two ratios would be applied. Any ideas why?

Yes, thanks for your efforts. I admit, i was just too lazy to look after it by myselfI was quite surprised seeing Marcus Popp alongside Sebastian Dollinger in Sao Paulo. And they already made it too the third round Lets see if Popp will join the players carussell for next year. Haven't heard yet, that he signed an indoor contract somewhere.
Also the turkish guys, beating Hyden/Bourne.... -

A pretty strong weekend for Canada with two teams in the quarterfinals. Losiak-Kantor, the heroes of the Junior and Youth WCHs and ECHs, with first medals at the World Tour. Dalhausser-Rosenthal's absence in Sao Paulo and the fifth place of Samoilovs-Smedins brought the Latvians on top of the current World Tour rankings.
