  • And yet another change in the calendar. After the Rio Open was announced as a replacement for the failed Major Series event at the beginning of September (when Munich declined), now we have an update from Turkey. The Istanbul Open won't take place at all. It was initially scheduled in August and it will be replaced by the Antalya Open in the middle of September, just between the Opens in Sochi and Xiamen.

I am really tired of all these changes. I though they have certain criteria organizers should fulfill before they sign contracts. No reason or whatsoever is mentioned as to why Istanbul has been replaced.

  • Alison-Bruno's unbeaten tournament run (in terms of gold medals, not wins) finally came to an end. And it happened in Rio de Janeiro at the current Open. Defeat to the young Germans Böckermann-Flüggen and today another defeat for the bronze against Saymon-Guto Carvalhaes. They had beaten so many good teams before that, who could have thought it would end like this... I guess they finally ran out of fuel.

Well, at least Böckermann is not that young anymore (29 years) but anyway..... 8)

Great result for my fellow Hamburgers  . I hope that this will give them some extra energy for the rest of the season. I know that qualifying for the olympics is their ultimate target and they are not that far away anymore. They might benefit as well from the split of team Walkenhorst/Windscheif.

Overall, the season for the german teams hasn't been great. Some good results here and there but no team showed real consistency. Erdmann/Matysik came closest but they still need some good results too, in order to qualify for Rio.

But firstly, everyone will be eager to make a good result this weekend at the german championship in Timmendorf. The weather forecast is great and everything is prepared for a good party and great matches :super:
