2017 Panamerican Cup

  • Puerto Rico will play with a new younger generation of players most of them finished their NCAA careers 1/2 years ago and played LVSF.

Vilmarie Mojica, Aurea Cruz and Lynda Morales retired from NT.

Karina Ocasio and Fefa Enright won't play the tournament, but are still part of the team.

The 14 players who got a call to play are:
    Natalia Valentín - new capitan,
    Shirley Ferrer,
    Jennifer Quesada,
    Pilar Victoria,
    Adriana Viñas,
    Alba Hernández,
    Daly Santana,
    Shara Venegas,
    Valeria León,
    Raymariely Santos,
    Ana Sofía Jusino,
    Janeliss Torres,
    Noami Santos-Lamb,
    Jennifer Nogueras

  • dividing into positions:
    S: Valentin, Nogueras, Santos
    OP: Ferrer
OH: Santana, Victoria, Santos-Lamb, Vinas Joy
    MB: Quesada, Hernandez, Jusino, Torres
    L: Venegas, Leon

is it something wrong or do they have 3 Setters ?( or maybe someone was converted  (R. Santos was sometimes used as OP...)

Gold medal - World League 2013 Prediction Game
Bronze medal - World League 2012 Prediction Game

  • As far as I know, Raymariely Santos always played as setter.
It's Nogueras who used to play in other positions. I have this memory. ^^

Neira Ortiz was called too, but she got her left ankle injured at the hotel. :aww:

  • Where is Enright ??? :what:
Why she won't play in this tournament ???

They're trying new players at international level. Since most of the heroes from the OGs retired from NT, they need to build a new team around the few players who stayed.
Rosa, Oquendo and Seilhamer are question marks, they may all come back: noone of them said something about leaving the NT.
Ocasio and Enright are staying for sure, they are just rested for this tournament.

  • What about Paulina Prieto? Why she is not with PUR NT?

Because she gave up playing with the USA Team to be in the PR NT, but she wasn't part of the OGs roster. It was the last thing I heard.

On the other hand Aiyana Whitney is part of the USA Team. She is like Prieto american with puertorican origins (she plays as local player in LVSF), but she chosed to represent USA and declined PR invitations.

  • Is Brazil taking part in this competition ? :?: ?(

But she already represented PR didnt she, in the qualification tournament for the OG, so why not now? Maybe she didnt play the OG cause she was still in NCAA? Dont know...
