  • China will send the team B (even we can call it team C) to complete the championship due to the parallel schedule with China National Games preparation.
therefore, most of the national team players and the potential under-age players will stay in their own provincial teams for the last central training.
The so-called Team C will complete two important tournament, including Asian Championship and the following FIVB World U23 Championship.

  • What about Japan list? What kind of results can we expekt from this China team? 4th place?

China plays Japan then Australia. Will not make it to quarterfinals if they lose to Aussies because they won't be able to beat Japan's A team unless a miracle happens.

  • Do we have any notes on where/if this tournament will be available for watching?

I don't see many previous years matches available on Youtube. I see a few more from 2013 than 2015, and (optimistically) my experience is that Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines are a little less controlling with regards to broadcast rights than China(2015) and especially Japan.

It's not a FIVB thing so no official streaming channel, maybe Laola.tv or that videostream.dn.ua site? Or some rouge youtube channel will popup just to stream it?

The first JPN match is in ten hours from now and you guys know how I am with wanting to see them play

  • i guess the JPN coaches don't like horikawa?

I'm talking above my pay grade here, but I've read others comment on Japan doing better when the OPP is also a receiver. Shinnabe fits that role better then Horikawa. Not sure how Nagaoka is fits into that when she comes back. Maybe they just don't want to string Mari along knowing that her role is further down the bench when Nagaoka does return. Personally I think Horikawa and Nagaoka are about the same performance-wise, and prefer Horikawa a bit for her court presence

  • apparently this is not a very important competition since CHN won't even send a B team..

    you are wrong.
AVC championship is the most important continental tournament every two years. as we can see, all teams prepared it with the best composition, however, not all teams takes it serously because of variety of reasons. This time for China, National Games (short for NG) goes parallelling with the schedule of Asian Championship and FIVB U23.

compared with the three tournaments, apparently NG will take the first place which is held in the year next to the olympics, every four years, the most important National Multiple Sports Tournament, including Indoor Volleyball. All representing teams from provinces, autonomous regions, municipalities, special administrative region as well as Army, Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps will attend this meeting. It is also regarded as the nationwide sport games, covering all competition sports (not limited to Olympics) and top athletes in China.

China Volleyball team should have send the best team if the important tournaments didnt go so tight like this, i am sure.

i may not be the tallest,
    the fastest, or the strongest,
but at least i can do one thing better than anyone else,
    to be me...
