2017 AVC Senior Women's Championship (Philippines/Manila, Aug 9-17, 2017)

  • well, 2 years ago, JPN didn't bother to send its top team, and this time, it's CHN.

Well it will be hard to beat China's A team so why not send in lesser team to get some training? This time China's A team is out so everyone else will send their best lineup in order to get the title. I am surprised that Korea has never won AVC. Biggest opportunity right now with China sending a random team due to scheduling conflict.

  • Who do you think could be the dark horse? Chinese Taipei? Kazakhstan? Vietnam? We saw so many surprises in the last AVC Men Championship (Indonesia in the semis, for example).

Could we expect for the same in this tournment?

  • Below link will stream every matches.

and for every Thailand matches you can see at this link but it will be in Thai.

  • leonardo, i saw a few minutes of KAZ match in the GP. they were horrible. i think their team peaked in the WCh 2014, when they qualified by beating KOR, and they had players like mudritskaya, ishimtseva, jarlagassova (anarkulova), matveyeva. their level has fallen off precipitously since. last year they had beresneva setting!!!!!!

Oh thanks! Yes, I had forgotten KAZ performance in the last GP, They even lost twice against Colombia :aww:

So Maybe Chinese Taipei could be the only dark horse. Last time they arrived until the semifinals. Btw, South Korea without Kim is such an average team...New Zealand was leading almost all the set

  • Hey wait. Why is the South Korea v New Zealand game on now? Wiki says it starts at 18:00 ... Did I brain fart and miss the Japan game :aww:

Is there a better source for Schedule?

Check the schedule in the official AVC website http://asianvolleyball.net/smm…-volleyball-championship/

Wiki is not always reliable :teach:

Now only two games are been playing, Chinese Taipei vs Iran and South Korea vs New Zealand

  • Phew! thanks ... just out of curiosity do you guys have a big gray blur on the right side of the screen for the KOR match on that videostream site? Or are you viewing it somewhere else

  • Below is the schedule from AVC website in Philippines time (GMT +8).

I went to that http://asianvolleyball.net site and clicked on Competitions link and it showed me 2016 stuff, so i figured they weren't updating the site any more and wrote them off. I need to get better at using this internet web thing.

  • I'm not sure if this will work in other areas, but the local Philippine TV coverer is ABS CBN Sports and Action. You can look their channel up on Youtube. Also, there are quite a number of Facebook pages that play volleyball matches live. Most of them are Thai and Vietnamese. I can't provide links here because I'm at work (LOL). Maybe you can look them up too under keywords like "volleyball live."

  • The Japan game didn't make the cut anywhere. Is there somewhere that will have stats and lineup or something to give me the impression that the game actually took place?

  • You don't believe the game took place? As of now, only an article is available: http://asianvolleyball.net/201…ismantling-australia-3-0/

Their next match will be against China, and they'll play at the main stadium. I think we can expect more photos, stats and even livestream videos of it.

  • It usually takes a day or more to update stats from AVC website. It's super slow.

  • from the scores of some of these matches, it seems that there's a big disparity between the "big" teams and others... very sad to see that in some countries, women's sports are not favored or supported.

also, why don't they combine the continental championships with the WCh qualifying? why bother hold separate tournaments?

for the WCh Q, you can be sure they'll all send their A teams!!!

  • I like the Chinese C team coach. Of course, he's far from Lang Ping's status, but he's much better than An Jiajie
