  • I felt that since Kim Yeon Koung played as an OP long long ago, she should replace Jin Ye each other about the awards.
    :)

What a fake OPP award for Jin Ye, who is playing outside hitter all the competition round. :white:
however, i admit Jin performed in certain big games but apparently not enough as a BEST, even a BEST OPP in this championship.

i may not be the tallest,
    the fastest, or the strongest,
but at least i can do one thing better than anyone else,
    to be me...

  • I fell asleep in the middle of the fourth set. The ref clearly gave set #1 to THA. With that momentum THA crushed JPN in set two and I thought it was all over. Miya Sato was having a bad game. Replacing her with Tominaga is what turned things around, although I don't know who played set five.

Congrats to my Japan team, although I would have enjoyed either outcome. Thailand is a fun team.

Does anyone know why Sarina Koga didn't play? Injured or in the doghouse? She was wearing a jacket the whole time so I imagine it's the former, and hope it's not serious.

Not a lot of interest in this tournament, at least around here.

Shinnabe has been Japan's MVP throughout these last two tournaments. A big high five to her.

  • Sheilla won best OH last year in the Grand Prix    it's been like 15 years since she doesn't play in that position anymore.

  • http://asianvolleyball.net posted their "Daily Bulletin" before the fifth set. WTF. Zero spectators, it says. I guess that's accurate.

    Grow the game!

On the first page (after cover) it said the attendance was 2,547, it should say that on the individual match sheets, but sometimes it doesn't.
However, after looking at the page they only stats through set 4. Maybe that's why there is a 0 for attendance.

  • just wondering if this is the same THA team that is going to play in the Kuala Lumpur SEA Games? I know PHI will definitely send the same roster.

I think it will be the same Thai NT roster for the Kuala Lumpur SEA Games.

I'm just catching up on a couple China games. I didn't know anyone on this squad, except Cai, maybe. She looked familiar. Jin Ye was the first and maybe only player to stand out to me. She was playing OH not OPP, but her strength is reception. She looks like she knows what's going on, isn't afraid of anything. Wants the ball to come to her. It looked like the rest of the team wanted that too. I didn't notice her as an attacker, except in the times she would receive, pass, and get the ball back for an attack. Always cool. I dunno if she was the best of anything in this tournament but I like her playing.

SEA games allows 12 players for each team, so THA team cuts Wipawee (wing-spiker) and Supattra (libero), the remaining are the same with AVC Champs

    Setter (3): Nootsara, Pornpun, Tichaya
    Opposite (2): Pimpichaya, Tapaphaipun
Outside hitter (3): Wilavan, Ajcharaporn, Chatchu-On
Middle Blocker (3): Pleumjit (C), Hattaya, Jarasporn
    Libero (1): Piyanut
