I'm waiting and praying the good one from sportdeutschland with english commentary makes it up ... but I doubt it will

  • Lee Jae Young from Korea has an incredible jump height for someone so petite.

I think you (or someone else) said that about Saori Sakoda. Maybe it's easier to jump higher with less weight to haul up in the air. I'm surprised, and depressed, that more Japanese players don't have that extra bounce in their step. They are all (relatively) petite! I miss Sakoda so much ;( She not only had some jump, but she swung at the ball like she meant it. She was a sweet little thing with hints of violence in her swing. That young girl on the Belgium team is seriously entertaining me with her jump and swing. And I love Lee Jae Young but don't like watching Korea much because of the LeBron James factor

Is Thatdaou going to play? Is she on the roster at all?

She's on the wide roster for VNL. Don't know any more than that. I wish we had a Thailand fan on this board to keep us updated and enthusiastic for their team.

  • So far both Japan and Thailand have been underperforming. I miss those crazy combination plays that Thailand always use. somehow this tournament shows their reception is getting worse. but the best thing that come out of this tournament is Ajcharaporn is getting more and more stable, playing consistently well.

Japan seems to lost what made them special- the defense. they no longer play like they used to and their transition game is weaker compare to the previous teams. i wish them nothing but the best.

Korea on the other hand have impressed me. they are no top team, that's for sure. but there have been a huge improvement that i can see. sure, they still rely on Queen Yeonkoung a lot, but this time around everyone steps up to their game. Lee Jae Yong fits perfectly well with KYK. and to my surpirse Korean MB have been actively involved on the game thus far. their only problem is the OPP side.

is this the final week before the final 6? i hope these teams will still have chance to prove themselves.

  • I agree with everything you write.

My feeling is that Japan's Coach Nakada is too attached to her Hisamitsu roots. There are NINE Hisamitsu players on the long roster. She should have started fresh and worked on developing young players. It's a weird contradiction that Shinnabe and Ishii are arguably the two best players Japan has BUT they will never win with them as their two best players. Nakada should be developing some NEW best players. Things seem too clique-y.

Defense needs chemistry, and the chemistry is off when the team is dominated by Nakada favorites--which includes Uchiseto, arguably one of Japan's best receivers. Nagaoka's return may further the problem. Or not.

There's one more Round next week and then an empty week before the Final 6 starts the following week.

  • Just watched Italy v Serbia. Fun match. I think Italy would fare better in the Final 6 than Turkey. No slight to the Turkish team. Italy just seems a little tougher, more able to deal with the increased pressure of A team competition. But I dunno.

I love Monica De Gennaro. So I went to look at the FIVB stats for digging. Monica is ranked 186th with 2 digs to her name.

I must not know what a dig is :what:

  • The stats are completely wrong this year. FIVB is getting worst each year. No free coverage is the biggest crime against sports.

  • I wonder where and from whom FIVB is getting any feedback on how well they've done with this revolution in Volleyball.

  • South Korea used to be a cakewalk for Japan. Now a 4 point lead 16-12 doesn't feel very secure for Japan.

Korea's quick set to the Middle blocker is fabulous.

I prefer the lefty Lee sister's hairstyle

  • just lost that usa youtube stream

  • Japan has served KYK to the bench

  • Japan can't rely on Korea playing this poorly for the whole match
