Germany - VBL 1. Bundesliga 2017/2018

  • This first match in free TV sport1 had 100.000 spectators at average and 170.000 at the peak. While this sounds ridiculous for sure for Italy and Poland for example, this is far above the internet streams numbers so far and the users have still to get used to it.

100,000 viewers (avg) is good result in Poland for women volleyball league. Polsat Sport is't main channel and the ratings are worst and worst :(

  • There are only 11 teams in the league this season. 10 are competing, 1 has a break (this weekend: Potsdam)

This is the reason for VCO Berlin. But Potsdam plays against Schwerin on Wednesday, live on sport1 in free TV...

  • Erfurt - Wiesbaden 2:3 (25:18 11:25 25:21 16:25 12:15)

    Aachen - Vilsbiburg 3:1 (25:18 19:25 25:23 25:14)

    Suhl - Stuttgart 1:3 (26:24 13:25 12:25 22:25)

    Tomorrow Dresden-Münster.

  • Aachen's victory yesterday could be a sign for their development related to previous season :)

    Bongaerts > Stoltenborg
    Susic > Baciu
    Oude Luttikhuis has developed significantly
Knip returned in better shape from NT-summer
Polder is still very weak in attack, but at least developed in block
    Stoeten has lost many kilo's.

Only big loss is of course Daalderop.

  • Vilsbiburg had a big disadvantage, because of the many changes and team was together very recently - Aachen had few changes and much more time to prepare together. This advantage will vanish when the season proceeds.

  • Interview with DSC coach Alexander Waibl. His goal is the title and he thinks his team is more talented than last year.
    TAG24

He can't tell anything else, because they have the highest budget in the league and are principally playing for titles. But the roster doesn't reflect the required quality, and talent alone isn't sufficient. Like last season they lost in Potsdam, so what?

We will talk again at the end of the season :teach:

Do you know where is Laura De Zwart?

  • Both matches ended 3:0 for the favourites, while Schwerin vs. Potsdam was not good, both teams not in top shape.

Stuttgart vs. Erfurt was relatively one-sided, only in third set Stuttgart was at times a little unaware and Erfurt with very few errors, but quality of Stuttgart decided the set as the first two.

If Schwerin beats a decent team like Potsdam this easily even with more than half of their starters being exhausted, who is supposed to stop them this season when everybody is healthy and in top shape? :white:
IMO they're even stronger than last year. Szakmary is a big upgrade compared to Brinker and Geerties and Lippmann keep growing into very good players on their positions.

  • As mentioned, Potsdam was not playing very well, aside from a part of set 2.

The biggest threat for Schwerin, and a real one, can be, if Stuttgart develops in the season as expected: 1. Nikoleta Perovic must get over her injury pretty fast now, she didn't play at all in any public match for Stuttgart yet, and has to fulfill our expectations. 2. teambuilding has made progress now, but is still an area to improve. 3. No core outside hitter must getting injured (Mlejnková, Sandor, Daalderop).

Nobody knows, if this will fully happen, but for the league a real challenge for Schwerin would be the best, of course.

do you think Sandor will contribute more as Opp since it was her original position and Nika&Mlejnkova is a good OH duo anyway :teach:
