Germany - VBL 1. Bundesliga 2017/2018

  • do you think Sandor will contribute more as Opp since it was her original position and Nika&Mlejnkova is a good OH duo anyway :teach:

That is really hard to tell: none of the three ever played (sub) Opp in Stuttgart, so it would have to be tested. I don't know, if they try it at training, but it seems possible - during ball training dual license Große Scharmann can also act as opposite, so there is no need by itself for this approach.

  • Actually Sandor did play OPP at times, for example in the Cup final against Aachen 2015.

You are right: this was a weird match, when Stuttgart found in the first two sets no rhythm against a relatively weak opponent, and in third set head coach Hernandez made some totally unusual changes, letting in match winner Jelena Wlk as outside hitter and shifting Sandor from that position to opposite (Renkema staying on the other OH position). This was a special cup match and at that time the number of effective attackers in the team was rather limited...

  • Erfurt cancelled the contract with Ivana Dinic. According to their manager, she didn't prepare professionally for the season and arrived in a bad physical shape. Remember that she arrived late due to visa problems.

Also Münster seems to have problems with Ivana Bulajic's visa or permission to play, she's with the team but on VBL website she's still listed as not allowed to play.

EDIT: Münster just released a statement that Ivana Bulajic has been diagnosed with a serious illness and needs a surgery. Münster will keep her contract to ensure that she gets the best possible medical treatment in Germany :flower:
And also their junior OPP Luisa Keller is ill with mononucleosis but she might be back soon. However Münster is checking the options for another transfer.

Is it so easy to cancel a contract? Normally you need two people to sign it so you aalso need two people to cancel it.

That's very noble, especially since USC is not so wealthy.
    All the best Ivana. :rose:

I guess if one party does not fulfill obligations, then the contract can be cancelled by the other party. But I agree that it's not a great solution, the club should have informed themselves better about who they sign and maybe see her in person and not make a contract based on videos only

  • Potsdam - Münster 1:3 (20:25 16:25 25:13 19:25)

MVP: Kimberly Drewniok / Mareen Apitz
Very weird MVP choice for Wiesbaden ?(

    Schwerin - Aachen 3:0 (28:26 29:27 25:18 )

There is a mistake in the stats, Osadchuk is #10 and Burgess #15.

Ranking (matches - wins - sets - points):
    1 SSC Palmberg Schwerin 4 4 12:1 12
    2 Allianz MTV Stuttgart 3 3 9:2 9
    3 Dresdner SC 3 2 8:4 7
    4 USC Münster 3 2 6:4 6
    5 VC Wiesbaden 3 2 7:5 5
    6 Rote Raben Vilsbiburg 3 1 5:6 3
    7 Ladies in Black Aachen 3 1 4:7 3
    8 SC Potsdam 3 1 4:8 2
    9 Schwarz-Weiß Erfurt 3 0 2:9 1
    10 VfB Suhl LOTTO Thüringen 3 0 1:9 0
    11 VCO Berlin 1 0 0:3 0

  • This was a major drawback for Potsdam, which was supposed to win at home against Münster, and an important result for Dresden and also Wiesbaden, the last seems (currently) not as close to Dresden as some might expect.

All matches live on http://www.vbl.tv, the most interesting ones should be Münster-Wiesbaden and Aachen-Potsdam.

Dresden-Stuttgart will be played on Wednesday as TV match.

  • 1st set between Münster and Wiesbaden has been a lot of fun to watch :obey: :super: Despite three serve errors at crucial points Wiesbaden took it 29:27.

I'm not too impressed with Ivana Vanjak. She's a decent receiver and defender for someone her height, but very weak in attack. No power, no technique :S

  • I have not seen Münster vs. Wiesbaden, but some facts from statistics: just below 1.200 spectators (not half full hall), but noticeably better attack efficiency of Wiesbaden (44% to 39% of hosts) didn't suffice, because in block and service Münster was considerably better. Point sum difference at the end was just four points in favour of four-set-winner Münster. - It is still not fully clear, if Münster is better than expected or Wiesbaden weaker as expected (or both). But I guess, at least experienced coach Teun Buijs (father of Dutch NT player Anne Buijs, if somebody worries and doesn't know) does a good job in Münster.

  • In all four sets Münster had at least 22:19 lead...
I think biggest advantage is the defense of Münster which is not noteable in these german stats.
