  • I`m glad all games will be televised.

I don`t know if has always been like this, but Rexona seams to have one of the lowest average attendance in the league. Some games did not even surpass 500 people, and it was a great idea to host their last 3 games, against Osasco,Minas and Praia at the beautiful Olympic Park Arena with capacity over 10k people. But against Osasco only 2.4k and the other 2 around 1.5k showed up. Very sad  .

Now talking in general,it was nice to see a few games played in other states with over 4k people. But besides that mostly games are never sold out. And that goes to other leagues also. including Turkey and Italy for example. Is sad to see empty volleyball arenas around the world.

  • Rexona's main arena is really small, very old and deteriorated.
And the Olympic arena is too far away from Rio de Janeiro's downtown. The games were mostly very late at night, so most people wouldn't have transportation to go back home so late.

  • That makes sense.... Having games starting at 10pm is crazy .....(but of course that is what the TV wants).

  • Fernanda Venturini told in an interview that Unilever will leave volleyball next season!!! ;( They had been investing in volleyball for 20 years.

If that really happens will be a big blow not only to brazilian volleyball...but for all the volleyball community I think. Maybe that means that Bernardinho will retire from volleyball even in club? :(

Im really sad right now with this news. :(

    http://saidaderede.blogosfera.…lever-vai-deixar-o-volei/

  • If Sesc step up as a single sponsor, I imagine we will see a big decrease of investiments...I hope Im wrong..

anyway, always sad to see a a sponsor as big as Unilever to leave the sport. :(

  • That is terrible news.

I read a while ago also that Banco do Brazil will reduce their investment. ( RSS 10 millions, but I don`t remember if it is 10 millions less a year or for the whole olympic cycle.)

All this will definitely have a impact on the youth/base categories. ;(

just like I said on my last post. Where are the volleyball fans? They need to show up for the games and show the support.

  • Boy what an impact Unilever leaving have on Rexona. What does Rexona do with their sponsorship money? Their training/game facilities are so bad in the first place so the money can't be going there. They are a top team. Cube has nice facilities. Do we know why Unilever is leaving? Maybe sponsoring a team in the US that USVA wants to establish?

  • I think Bernardo simply doesn't care anymore and will retire from volleyball to pursue a political career. He has always been involved with politicians and the rumor about he running for a political position is getting bigger each year...

  • Rexona seems a little bit shaky a few games lately but they still managed to win the games. I think that's what sets them apart from the other team, that they have the classic Brazil National team staying power.

Anne Buijs has really stepped up her game. I wonder if they are going to extend contract with her. I think Sarah Pavan is the longest running foreign player Rexona has ever had. Monique is playing well despite her height. She is consistently the best scorer for Rexona in matches. She is definitely going to stay.

I wish Nataliya will be back though. I miss the Naty-Gaby duo. But she is doing well on her own with Fenerbahce. I doubt she will return to Brazil any time sooner.

I wonder how the newly-revised ranking system is going to affect the team next season.

  • Cintha Boesrma also played in Rexona for 2 years during the 90s, but yes, normally the foreigners stay only one year. This includes Logan Tom, Piccinini, Tara Cross, Brankica...
