:super: Super performance from Erika Araki with 10 block kills, I wonder if this is a record in the Japanese V-League. Good to see PFU get another win too. Just about half way through the regular season and it a tight race for the Top 6. This season you just can't tell who is going to come out on top for every single match.

@rbdfabio
It look like I made a mistake when I answered your question last time. For some unknown reason one of the group of teams are scheduled to play on 2017-01-09 (MON) instead of 2017-01-07 (SAT) like the other group. Also for the championship matches, they are scheduled for 2017-03-17 (FRI) and 2017-03-18 (SAT).

Erika had a great match. As for the 10 blocks, the league does not do a good job of keeping records. Yes they have all of the data, but no specific data on the best in a match.

PFU is my mind will still have difficulty staying up. In the Challenger League I, Denso and Ageo are just miles ahead of the other teams down there.

Probably, yes.
If I remember correctly, she is the 3rd player who achieved 10 blocks in one match next to Danielle Scott(2001-2002, Pioneer) and Nana Iwasaka(2013-14, Hisamitsu) :win:

About Iwasaka, she twisted her ankle on 5th match against PFU and after this injury, she misses all matches ;(
Without her, Hisamitsu's game dropped in terms of blocking. I hope she comes back soon.

Hey Brahmin, how many games is left and when the Final 6 starts? and will it be like last year? When they have 6 teams left they face each other twice, then the first placed goes to the final and the 2nd and 3rd plays for the final spot in the final? Thanks

Regular Season is 21 matches. So 6 to go.
Final 6 is single match Round Robin. 5,4,3,2,1,0 points to start the Round based on positions at end of Regular Season.
Top team with most points in Final 6 (5 (4,3,2,1,0) + max 15) go directly to Final, 2nd and 3rd in a semi final. If tied the higher placed team in Regular Season wins tiebreaker.
So you could play bad, but still make semifinals as regular season champ. Hisamitsu went 2-3, but finished 3rd after Final 6.

Ah ok, thank you. I think would be better if they would not carry points from the 1st round.

Ah ok, thank you. I think would be better if they would not carry points from the 1st round.

It is only the 5-0 points, not the complete number, so a bit different. Toyota last year was 6th at the end of the regular season and almost made the final 3 with 3 wins, but needed 1 more win to get past 10 points which is what Hisamitsu had.

I`m watching Toyota vs PFU, and in the very beginning Rahimova and I think it was the libero, they did collide into each other while passing, and the libero did hit her shoulder on Rahimova`s forehead, and she did seams hurt, nobody seams to care, and after the next play she was trying to show the people on the bench, but nothing happened, she kept playing but I can tell she`s hurt and not happy. Then a time out was called and she had her hands on her forehead like it was hurting and I did not see anybody helping her...She looks uncomfortable and she was not even celebrating with the team....

I will wait until tomorrow when they upload the reply to watch again and see what really happened.

I didnt wacth this match but i guess it is japanese culture that everyone stands on their own. If it is not that big case, they will help themself. I watched japan vs russia, at that time kotoh(setter) was hit really hard by kosheleva's spike. No one in japanese team went to help, they just stood and watched. Only kosheleva came across the net and checked how she was.

I didnt watch this match but i guess it is japanese culture that everyone stands on their own. If it is not that big case, they will help themself. I watched japan vs russia, at that time kotoh(setter) was hit really hard by kosheleva's spike. No one in japanese team went to help, they just stood and watched. Only kosheleva came across the net and checked how she was.

Japanese volleyball culture I don't think understands anything about concussions. In the USA, because of American football, where concussions occur, even high school coaches in volleyball are trained to recognize them (maybe not nationwide, but when I coached for two years, I had to take a class online to recognize them).

One of University of California's players a couple of years ago wore padded headgear due to concussions.

With the sport knowing that sometimes you get hit in the face by the ball, people kind of overlook it. If you feel hurt sit on the floor. It is the easiest way for the referees and coaching staff to see that you are hurt and to get checked out.
