  • Hi everyone,

Can any of you share a good and reliable website or channel (YouTube) whereby I can watch all the games for the 2016-2017 season, including the Kovo Cup?

SPOTV used to upload all matches, but they have just mentioned that they will no longer upload the matches as they don't have the rights to the videos.

I don't need live streaming, but would love to have access to watch all the matches.

    Thanks in advanced,
    Aileen

Thanks Aileen and G'Day to another fellow Australian, I wasn't aware that SPOTV didn't have the rights to the videos anymore. Unfortunately I don't know of any other website or YT channel that currently host all the games. Hopefully someone else will be able to provide an answer for all of us.

  • If i'm not mistaken spotv didn't upload last year's KOVO Cup too. Let's wait until the regular season begin and see if they're going to upload the games. When or where did spotv mentioned they will no longer upload??

KGC Ginseng Corp. 1-3 IBK Industrial Bank Altos (25-22, 21-25, 19-25, 17-25) stats
    IBK Altos: 19. Madison KINGDON 30 (1a, 4b); 10. PARK Jeong-Ah 15; 4. KIM Hee-Jin 14 (1b); 17. KIM Mi-Youn 5 (1b); 18. KIM Yu-Ri 5 (4b); 9. KIM Sa-Nee 4 (2a).

It seem that there are no replays for this match on either channels.

Group B - Game 3, September 29th, 2016: GS Caltex Seoul KIXX vs Heungkuk Life Pink Spiders official start time 16:00 KST.
Broadcasting schedule Channel K Sport & Channel S Sport will both start at 15:50 KST. Replay on Channel K Sport is on September 29th at 22:25 KST and Channel S Sport is on September 30 at 10:50 KST.
(However please check the links in my previous post for any last minute changes or updates to TV scheduling).

As nnnneil0929 pointed out HAN Su-Ji who used to be the regular Setter for KGC is now a MB (according to the roster on both the team & KOVO website) but today she was playing as an OH/OP. Also to note, JANG Young-Eun last year was a MB but is now playing as an OH. Alaina BERGSMA did not start the game, KGC only used her as a substitute. Since they let go of 2 of their regular OH BAEK Mok-Hwa and LEE Yeon-Ju during the Free Agent period, I guess KGC are short on OH/s and are experimenting with their players playing in different position during the KOVO Cup. KGC could have won bot the 2nd & 3rd set, they were leading midway in both set but gave away the lead and the sets. Just hoping that KGC does better this year than last year.

Both IBK and Hyundai are into the semi final as the top team in their respective group.

kondzio KGC No 17 is KIM Jin-Hee and IBK & NT OP is KIM Hee-Jin; IBK KIM Yu-Ri is No. 18 and YOO Mi-Ra is No. 13; Hi-pass Libero & No. 8 surname is IM/YIM (but YIM on FIVB).

  • Thank You for all corrections theloneracer :flower: overall looks like I did job via translator pretty well except Heungkuk, where there are names also writen in classic alphabet ^^

  • Thank You for all corrections theloneracer overall looks like I did job via translator pretty well except Heungkuk, where there are names also writen in classic alphabet

You did a great job , plus you did it really quickly. When I saw "JIM" I just thought it was a weird Korean surname and thought you might have meant to type "KIM" instead since J & K are next to each other on the keyboard. But don't worry about the way you are spelling the players' name, it doesn't help when there are numerous ways of romanising Korean letters & words. I have basically been using google translate, and only just started now to search for the players' name and checking it with AVC/FIVB records.

Btw I only noticed this now but GS Caltex playing position for "12 Song-Yi Han, 11 Yu-Jeong Choi, 19 Da-Un Jeong, 2 Hyun-Ji Kim" should be MB and "9 Seung-Jun Pyo, 1 So-Yeong Lee, 15 So-Hwi Kang, 7 Mi-Kyung Hwang" should be OH. I'm not sure about 18 Alexa Gray though, she an OH in the stats on KOVO but GS Caltex website got her down as a OP.

  • well, I remember Song-Yi Han as OH, so I thought that there are OHs, but here in Korea players are switching positions so often :D there are many examples like recent with Soo-Ji Han (S to MB or OH/OP) or Young-Eun Jang (MB to OH) or others: Song-Yi Han (OH to MB), Hee-Jin Kim (MB to OP and other way round), Jeong-Ah Park (OH to MB and to OH), Seung-Ju Pyo (OP to MB to OH) or Yoo-Na Bae (OP to MB) ^^ I thought that Setters keeps their positions, but as we can see in KGC even they can be converted...

Another solid performance from Gray (53.33% success rate) leading her team to the KOVO Cup semi-final to face off against 2015 KOVO Cup Champion IBK Altos this Saturday October 1st for a place in the final.

well, I remember Song-Yi Han as OH, so I thought that there are OHs, but here in Korea players are switching positions so often there are many examples like recent with Soo-Ji Han (S to MB or OH/OP) or Young-Eun Jang (MB to OH) or others: Song-Yi Han (OH to MB), Hee-Jin Kim (MB to OP and other way round), Jeong-Ah Park (OH to MB and to OH), Seung-Ju Pyo (OP to MB to OH) or Yoo-Na Bae (OP to MB) I thought that Setters keeps their positions, but as we can see in KGC even they can be converted...

Yes you are right HAN Song-Yi was originally an OH. During 2015-2016 season GS Caltex move her into the MB position so they could play Katherine Bell in the OP position. I'm not sure when this exactly started, but here is a Link for one of GS Caltex match last season you can see HAN Song-Yi with a C (=MB) next to her name and Katherine Bell with an R (=OP). Even in today match PYO Seung-Ju was playing as MB in set 1 & 2 and Heungkuk play their OH SHIN Yeon-Gyeong as a Libero in set 3 & 4.

Semi Final 2 will be Hyundai E&C vs KGC Ginseng Corp on October 2nd, 2016

Solid performance by Alaina BERGSMA scoring 32 points and helping her team comeback from 2 sets down to winning the match in 5 sets match. KGC Coach today decided to play HAN Su-Ji as a MB in place of their regular MB MOON Myoung-Hwa. Leslie CIKRA didn't play, I don't think she was even on the roster today.

KGC was looking good early in the 1st set until whilst leading 6-2, KIM Hae-Ran injured her right elbow. KGC never look the same from that point and with no one else coming on to replace KIM Hae-Ran in the libero position for the rest of the game. IBK took full advantage of the situation, winning back to back KOVO Cup.

  • First game of the 2016-2017 V-League season start tomorrow Saturday October 15th at 16:00 KST between the Korea Expressway Corp. Hi-Pass vs. IBK Industrial Bank Altos. KOVO V-League 2016-2017 Schedule: Link

It's official, Cikra's replacement at Hi-pass is 22 y.o. Kennedy Bryan (OH/OP) from Virginia Tech. I think Bryan only recently joined Serie A2 Golem Volley so I not sure if Hi-pass got her on loan or bought out her contact. Source: 1.

While we are awaiting for the new V-League season to start. Someone was kind enough to upload onto YT the KOVO Cup Group B match on Sept. 26th between Heungkuk vs. Hyundai (unfortunately it was the only one they uploaded). Enjoy!

  • Kingdon is a splendid player. She's not very tall but she will do her job both in attacking and passing. You will see.

Wasn't Rishel (Kingdon) the MVP last season in Azerbaijan? Her stats during the KOVO Cup was very good http://kovo.co.kr/game/kovocup/13301_player-ranking_list.asp.
