    Post Match Summary

IBK pretty much gave away this match, both KIM Hee-Jin and PARK Jeong-Ah were rested. I'm surprise they didn't give Madison RISHEL a rest too.

Next match: March 12th at 16:00 KST - GS Caltex Seoul KIXX vs. Hyundai Engineering & Construction.

I'm so jealous Korean fans get these great streams with catchy intro music and whatnot. Japan sends us no better quality than a third generation VHS dub

The reason we have better quality video for the Korean match is because it from the original source. The one on youtube video for the Japanese matches are like streams of streams of streams, hence the quality is much poorer than their original source in Japan. But on the hand for some reason I do find that the Korean stadium look more brighter than the Japanese ones.

I agree the Korean stadium look brighter, and I think it's because they know they are selling something. My question is: why is there access to the original feeds from Korea and not Japan? My answer would be because Korea understands soft power and sees it as cultural export. Japan, "Cool Japan" notwithstanding, doesn't seem interested in that. "Don't step on our broadcasting rights" is so last century. Just ask NBC(olympics).

I'm pretty sure almost everyone thought the play-offs would be decided in two games. Now tied at 1-1 a piece the 3rd match of the play-offs will go back to IBK home court. Let see if IBK will rue their decision to rest their main players in their last game of the regular season with KGC Ginseng and allowing them to advance to the play-offs ahead of Hyundai or will KGC extend their fairy tale like story by another chapter.

Finals: Heungkuk Life Pink Spiders 1-1 IBK Industrial Bank Altos

    Finals Schedule:
Game 3 - March 28th at 19:00 KST - IBK Industrial Bank Altos (H) vs. Heungkuk Life Pink Spiders (A).
Game 4 - March 30th at 19:00 KST - IBK Industrial Bank Altos (H) vs. Heungkuk Life Pink Spiders (A).
Game 5* - April 1st at 16:00 KST - Heungkuk Life Pink Spiders (H) vs. IBK Industrial Bank Altos (A).
    * only if needed.

  • As I expected in the pre-season, Kingdon (Apparently Rishell, her new name) is crushing the Korean league. She passes, scores, blocks and everything.
Tabi Love on the other hand seems to be analyzed properly so Altos defenders got to know how to stop her in crucial monents. Well she technically scores a lot but she can't when her team desperately needs her to end the set. That's the difference. I don't like her setter though. She's super slow for the standard of Asian setters.

I'm surprised at Alaina Bergsma with her outstanding numbers. She seems to have improved a lot.

Madison Rishel has been a super and consistent player this season but for me Alaina Bergsma is the player of the season. The MVP will most likely go to either Madison or Alaina.

Yeah IBK are winning points at crucial moments in the game and Heungkuk have been giving up a few sets when they had like a 4-6 points lead. This may cost them the championship.

If IBK win the championship this season it will be the 4th season in a row that the 2nd place team at the end of the regular season wins the championship.

    Try-outs news for 2017-2018 season

Apparently from news articles, former V-League players Hayley Spelman (KGC Ginseng 2015-16), Taylor SIMPSON (Heungkuk Life 2015-16), Catherine Bell (GS Caltex 2015-2016), Yeliz Basa (Hyundai E&C 2013-14) and Ivana Nesovic (KEC Hi-pass 2012) names are on a list of possible players to be invited to the try-outs for 2017-18 season. The list will be cut down to 30 players who will be then invited to attend the try-outs on May 10-12th in Seoul. Surprisingly 2015-2016 V-league MVP Elizabeth 'Lizzie' MCMAHON's name was dropped from the list.

From this season players Tabitha LOVE (Heungkuk Life), Alena BERGSMA (KGC Ginseng), Hillary HURLEY (KEC Hi-pass) and Madison RISHEL (IBK Altos) have submitted applications for contract renewals with the exception of Alexa GRAY (GS Caltex) and Emily HARTONG, with the latter having already played two seasons for Hyundai E&C was therefor excluded (NB: accordingly to the article - If a player who has played two seasons hopes to participate in a tryout in the following year, he or she will be able to take part without the preference of the original club).
