Hyundai E&C Hillstate 3 - 0 Heungkuk LIfe Pink Spiders ( 25 - 22, 25 - 21, 25 - 16 ) stats post match summary

Hyundai E&C:
17. Daniela Elizabeth CAMPBELL 23pts (17s/41, 1a, 5b, 4d, 2e), 14. YANG Hyo-Jin 12pts (10s/20, 1a, 1b, 6d, 1e), 15. HWANG Min-Kyoung 12pts (10s/16, 1a, 1b, 13d, 1e), 4. Heungkuk Pink Spiders:
17. LEE Jae-Yeong 22pts (22s/46, 15d), 1. JEONG Si-Young 6pts (3s/18, 1a, 2b, 6d, 2e), 16. LEE Han-Bi 5pts (5s/28, 9d, 5e), 7. KIM Na-Hee 5pts (5s/9, 2d, 2e), 3. SHIN Yeon-Gyeong 4pts (3s/9, 1a, 15d, 1e), 19. KIM Chae-Yeon 2pts (2s/6, 1d, 1e), 12. GONG Yun-Hui 2pts (1s/5, 1b, 2d), 14. CHO Song-Hwa 1pts (0s/2, 1a, 7d, 1e), 5. KIM Hae-Ran [Li] 0pts (11d), 20. Match MVP: HWANG Min-Kyoung (Hyundai E&C) www.youtube.com/watch?v=xraPMxR2rPQ, sports.news.naver.com/volleyball/...&id=371708&redirect=true

- Heungkuk became the 1st team to achieved 13,500 excellent/exact receptions with 43 from the match (currently with 13,511 excellent/exact receptions).

- Receptions were much better for all three of Heungkuk receivers but attack wise Heungkuk is still very lacking. Only LEE Jae-Yeong managed to score double-digit points (and also no spiking error). To me, it seems that Hyundai wasn't aggressive enough in this match, maybe because they took it as an easy win with Taylor SIMPSON not playing. Had Taylor played alongside Jae-Yeong in this match, Heungkuk might possibly have won the match.

Defencively, Hyundai looks so much better this season, particularly in reception. HWANG Min-Kyoung has been really solid in defence and also making decent point contributions too. I'm also really enjoyed watching LEE Da-Yeong played this season. Da-Yeong is the mood maker for her team and it's funny how she often bearhugs and lifts her teammates to celebrate after they win a point.

Next Match: Tuesday 21st November 2017 at 17:00 KST - GS Caltex Seoul KIXX vs. Korea Expressway Corp. Hi-pass

and thank you for always posting. can you also write you opinion on the goods and bads of both both teams regardless of winner. i just wanna know too. much thanks again

That's very disappointing indeed. I guess proposing to someone in a public place does bring bad luck after all.

But seriously, the next two matches could be vital to Heungkuk. Losing another 5 or 6 points might seal their fate in this season for good.

PS.
I bet posting this stuff on a bad day, might feel like shouting into the void. I really enjoy reading this summaries, those additianal links are also exceptionally helpful.
Thanks very much sir.

 no problems, just doing what I can.

Yes, it's definitely disappointing for Taylor but to her family, it might have been the best luck. Before the season started Taylor came to South Korea and then returned to the US due to a family matter. During this time when she was back in the US, there were concerns in Korean media that she wouldn't return to South Korea to play because of family pressures. The articles stated that her family was very worried about her safety and was advising her not to go back to South Korea because Western media was spurning out headlines that war could break out in the Korean Peninsula.

It funny, from this article, Heungkuk is stating that it could take 3 weeks or around the middle of the 3rd round to find a replacement for Taylor. So by my calculation, the time that Heungkuk estimate to find a replacement and the minimum 1 month/4 weeks of rest that the doctors suggested for Taylor end is about the same.

heungkuk might really be done this season... i hope they bring in someone good and soon.

Even if it may be season over for Heungkuk, the bright side to this is they have a great chance of getting the 1st pick of the new recruits from both the foreign player tryouts and the rookie draft. The local media were stating that in the next season rookie draft there are many players with good potential (some of them played at the 2017 Girls' U18 Asian Championship (3rd place) and Girls' U18 World Championship).

Interestingly, before the season started some even suggested it was a great opportunity for a 7th women team to be established given that not many were drafted this season and little opportunity given to the rookies in recent years and made comparisons to like when IBK Altos was established.

But if Heungkuk season is going south early, I hope they would take this opportunity to give their younger players more game time. The experience will be beneficial in the long run. And unlike previous years, it is good to see that this season every team have given one of their rookies from this season draft some game time so early in the season.

PS @Hani I'm not very confident in my opinions/insights regarding volleyball (I'm more of a numbers kind of guy) so forgive me if I don't always make comment on every match about each team pros and cons. I hope others might comment a little bit more :sos: and help make this thread more enjoyable :drink: .

Hyundai E&C Hillstate 3 - 0 IBK Altos ( 25 - 17, 25 - 21, 25 - 13 ) stats post match summary

Hyundai E&C:
17. Daniela Elizabeth CAMPBELL 23pts (21s/35, 2b, 9d, 2e), 14. YANG Hyo-Jin 16pts (10s/22, 1a, 5b, 3d, 4e), 4. HWANG Youn-Joo 8pts (7s/18, 1a, 8d, 2e), 19. Total Points: 75, Score Points: 64, Attack: 48 (from 97 at 49.48%), Ace: 4, Block: 12, Dig: 62, Error: 12.

IBK Altos:
19. Madison KINGDON RISHEL 13pts (12s/36, 1b, 8d, 3e), 4. KIM Hee-Jin 11pts (11s/33, 4d, 2e), 7. GO Ye-Rim 5pts (4s/13, 1a, 7d, 2e), 17. KIM Mi-Youn 5pts (2s/9, 3a, 5d, 2e), 11. Match MVP: LEE Da-Yeong (Hyundai E&C) www.youtube.com/watch?v=niK1yDmMudE, sports.news.naver.com/volleyball/...&id=372357&redirect=true

- Hyundai E&C KIM Se-Young (11th player) achieved 2,000 successful spike points with 4 from the match (currently with 2,000 successful spike points).

- Surprisingly Hyundai E&C managed to out spike IBK Altos even though IBK performance in reception was much better than Hyundai (IBK 38.81% vs Hyundai 23.40%). Daniela Elizabeth CAMPBELL had a day to forget in reception with 0.00% (3 excellent receptions with 4 failures from 19 attempts). However, even with the lower reception success rate, Hyundai achieved a 49.48% spike success rate compare to IBK 30.77%. This was thanks due to LEE Da-Yeong setting and Hyundai's defence putting pressure on IBK spikers. Both IBK main spikers Madison RISHEL and KIM Hee-Jin spike success rate were kept to 33.33%, with the former having been stopped by Hyundai blockers a total of 7 times and her backcourt attack success rate kept down to 25.00% (with 3 of her 12 attempts blocked).

Its seem that IBK YOO Mi-Ra (MB) was injured sometime after KOVO Cup. Mi-Ra was reported to partner up with KIM Su-Ji in the MB position but is now most likely ruled out for the rest of the season after having knee surgery in late October (Source: nocutnews.co.kr).

So since the start of the season due to Mi-Ra's injury, KIM Mi-Youn and the rookie KIM Hyun-Ji have been playing in the MB position opposite to Su-Ji. For Mi-Youn case, because of the lack of height and experience in the MB position, when she is upfront with KIM Hee-Jin they switch place so that Hee-Jin plays in the middle and Mi-Youn plays on the right side.

I think there are few players who participated in the tryout are currently playing in our league? Our league will end in December so I'm assuming Heungkuk might get a player from here? Kennedy Bryan and Hilary Hurley are currently playing here.
FIGHTING! :super:

Not sure if Kennedy Bryan would get another chance in Korea but to be fair to her she was a late arrival and did not get a lot of time to train with the team. Also, I think she was unlucky with her timing too. Her strike rate after 2 rounds in 2016/2017 was 34.73% but during this period the other foreigner players were spiking around 40-45% marks. Had Bryan played in the 2015/2016 season she might not have looked as bad as she did because four of the foreign players in 2015/2016 season were spiking at a strike rate of 35-38% mark (with the other two players above the 40% mark).

Hilary Hurley was a slight improvement to Kennedy but not by much. Hilary finished the season with a strike rate of 36.26% and averaging 17.47 spike points per match compared to Kennedy's strike rate of 35.07% and averaging 9.31 spike points per match. But on closer examination, both players stats are about the same. Hurley got roughly double the number of attempts as Kennedy did so scoring roughly double the amount point to be expected.

But reading this article it seems Heungkuk replacement for Taylor is either a European player or is currently playing in Europe.

- SpoTV: KIM Hee-Jin (IBK Altos) www.youtube.com/watch?v=_wRc2M66wsw

- Heungkuk LEE Jae-Yeong (27th player) achieved 1,500 points with 37 from the match (currently with 1,525 successful spike points).

- Heungkuk let themselves down this match, they outscored IBK but managed to lose the match. The worst part of it, Heungkuk were up 5-0 in the 5th set and let IBK comeback to steal the match and 2 points away. Overall a good performance from LEE Jae-Yeong leading the team but had too many spiking errors (8) and a bit below par in reception. Decent support from LEE Han-Bi. If only Han-Bi could improve her reception I would start with her alongside Jae-Yeong and the new foreign player.

Despite playing poorly recently, IBK managed to come from behind and win. Not sure if IBK has done this before in the season, but I just noticed from the highlights video that they took Madison RISHEL off reception duty and just got her to focus on attack. IBK new expensive recruits KIM Su-Ji and YEOM Hye-Seon this season have been that great this season. KIM Su-Ji was spiking pretty poorly in this match (2/14) and also her previous match (3/11) too. In my opinion, the only new player making decent contributions for IBK is GO Ye-Rim which IBK got as compensation from Hi-pass for PARK Jeong-Ah.

Next Match: Sunday 26th November 2017 at 16:00 KST - Hyundai E&C Hillstate vs. KGC Ginseng Corp.

Hyundai E&C HWANG Youn-Joo (OP) needs 13 points in today match to become the 1st player in both men/women league to achieve 5,000 points (regular season).

- KGC Ginseng LEE Jae-Eun (6th player) achieved 6,000 successful sets with 39 from the match (currently with 6,017 successful sets).

- Looks like Alaina BERGSMA and Co. ruined Hyundai & HWANG Youn-Joo day (10 more points needed now). Besides the YANG Hyo-Jin, the rest of Hyundai had trouble scoring against KGC. Despite scoring 20 points, Daniela Elizabeth CAMPBELL was fairly poor striking the ball at only 29.09% for the match. KGC don't give away too many points due to errors each match. Currently, KGC Ginseng are ranked number 1 in term of least error made.

Next Match: Tuesday 28th November 2017 at 17:00 KST - IBK Altos vs. Korea Expressway Corp. Hi-pass

how do you find out these numbers? and do you know by chance what's the highest points jaeyeong scored in a game? unless this is the highest

With regards to the achievement records that I post, you can find them in the "post match summary" (in Korean only) link that I provide with the stats. It's usually found on the 3rd page underneath the 2 images of a half court with 6 jerseys (images show spike success rate from each position for each team) and just above the current team standings table. For Jae-Yeong's case, it looks like the below:

▶ 흥국생명 (<- team)
- 이재영 역대통산 득점1500점 돌파(27호) / 현재1525점 / 오늘 경기 37점 (<- achievement record)
1호: 정대영 2007-03-10 현대 VS 흥국 / 현재 4272점 (<- who first achieved record)

If you put it into Google Translator it won't make much sense so the trick is to break up the words like this:

이재영
역대
통산
득점
1500점
돌파(27호) /
현재1525점 /
오늘 경기 37점

Sorry, I don't know what Jae-Yeong highest point score is in a match off the top of my head. It is possible to find out, but it is very time consuming since you have to go thru all the match stats for Heungkuk starting from the 2014/2015 season. Here the link to begin with http://kovo.co.kr/game/v-league/11110_sc….asp?season=011. :whistling:

Somehow GS Caltex managed to keep KGC Alaina BERGSMA offensive in check at 36.73% and blocking her 4 times, whilst the rest of KGC offence was ineffective. Korea Expressway Corp. Hi-pass 3 - 0 KGC Ginseng Corp.( 25 - 11, 25 - 18, 25 - 17 ) stats post match summary

KEC Hi-pass:
17. Ivana NESOVIC 20pts (16s/26, 3a, 1b, 3d, 4e), 10. BAE Yoo-Na 16pts (10s/15, 6b, 2d, 2e), 9. PARK Jeong-Ah 15pts (14s/37, 1b, 7d, 3e), 12. MOON Jung-Won 9pts (4s/9, 2a, 3b, 7d, 2e), 13. KGC Ginseng:
2. Alaina BERGSMA 12pts (10s/37, 2b, 7d, 6e), 12. HAN Song-Yi 9pts (7s/22, 1a, 1b, 9d, 1e), 7. PARK Se-Yun 7pts (6s/21, 1a, 7d, 2e), 4. HAN Soo-Ji 3pts (3s/13, 2d), 14. YOO Hee-Ok 1pts (0s/2, 1b, 3d, 1e), 13. LEE Jae-Eun 0pts (0s/4, 10d), 3. KIM Hye-Won 0pts (0s/1), 8. PARK Sang-Mi 0pts (3d), 9. Oh Ji-Young [Li] 0pts (12d), 10. CHOI Su-Bin 0pts (1d). Total Points: 46, Score Points: 32, Attack: 26 (from 100 at 26.00%), Ace: 2, Block: 4, Dig: 54, Error: 10.

Match MVP: MOON Jung-Won (KEC Hi-pass) www.youtube.com/watch?v=kIOD4A1TUyY, sports.news.naver.com/volleyball/...&id=375142&redirect=true

- KGC Ginseng became the 2nd team to achieved 30,000 successful digs with 54 from the match (currently with 30,018 successful digs).

- KGC Ginseng Alaina BERGSMA had such a terrible game, strike rate was just above 27%, had 5 shot blocked and 5 hitting errors. With Alaina not firing, no one in KGC could step up and fill in for her. Their receptions for this match was also a problem at only 9.52% efficiency (11 excellent receives and 5 failures from 63 attempts). KGC had so much hope after beating the league leader Hyundai E&C whilst away 3-0 but now with 2 straight losses (with big points difference in most sets), their season is in jeopardy if they can't turn it around quickly.

KEC Hi-pass after starting the season with 3 losses (all were 5 sets match), they have turned it all around and with this win, they are now leading the league. For me, BAE Yoo-Na has been great this season and giving decent support to Ivana NESOVIC and PARK Jeong-Ah in attacking. Not only has KEC Hi-pass spiking improving with the addition of Ivana and Jeong-Ah, but their blocking has also improved so much compared to last season. Both Yoo-Na and JUNG Dae-Young are currently in Top 5 for blocking and Hi-pass are currently 2nd in the league in blocking just behind Hyundai E&C.

Bonus: The foreigner fans in the video is pure gold

sports.news.naver.com/volleyball/...&id=377355&redirect=true

- Heungkuk JEONG Si-Young (75th player) achieved 500 points with 6 from the match (currently with 502 points).

- After the second TTO in the 3rd set, there is footage of KGC Ginseng Alaina BERGSMA talking to the team support staffs and they were seen feeling/touching her left knee. Maybe she has a slight injury? KGC Ginseng can't afford to lose Alaina as they have another match on Wednesday against GS Caltex, with both teams currently on losing streak.

Props to Heungkuk on winning this match 3-0. An important win for them as they now tied on points with 5th place GS Caltex and 5 points behind KGC Ginseng. Also, bravo to the Heungkuk rookie MB KIM Chae-Yeon, her attacks are still very much lacking but she came up with 3 big blocks to winning the 1st set for Heungkuk, 2 of those blocks were on Alaina.

Next Match: Tuesday 12th December 2017 at 17:00 KST - IBK Altos vs. Korea Expressway Corp. Hi-pass
