  • Obviously the italian team misses Bosetti and also Chirichella (best middle blocker for sure), but even without them they had just won three times against Japan in the last 5,6 days always 3-0 so something must have gone wrong today.

However our team is sincerely a good one, with this loss we will probably out even winning the next 2 matches but we'll see.

I don't exactly agree... IMO, Sunday's match between Italy and Germany will be a kinda decider, with the winning team joining Japan among the best 8. A bit of a pity, as I was hoping to see both the European teams going ahead. Well, at least Germany has started with the right foot...

  • Serbia gained crucial win, much stronger than Norceca champion USA, although best scorer from EC opp M. Tomic isn't here... China must be hyper strong if they beated this Serbia 3-0....

  • Puerto Rico’s tower Alba Fernandez can fly in the World Championship sky
The tallest player at the current FIVB Girls' Youth World Championship, 16-year old Alba Fernandez is from Puerto Rico. Her height is 207 cm and she started to plays volleyball only 4 years ago, but she is already a player of National Team of her country. Alba can fly in the World Championship sky here in Turkey but she is already flying with her dreams with volleyball.

"I have better reach to the net and I can do some things better than other players due to my height. But I need to concentrate on the play more than other players do, I have to play better for my team. Because my colleagues have higher expectations from me," said Alba, No. 17 of Puerto Rico team.

She started to play volleyball only four years ago and before it I did not practice to play volleyball at all. "I was studying in the 6th grade and I was 12 years old, when a representative from National Team came to me and told about this sport. He came in order to invite me to the National Team because I was very tall. They explained me this game, taught me how to play it and took me to the National Team. So just at that time I started to learn to play volleyball," remembers Alba her entrance into the sport.

But today volleyball became one of the most important parts of her life that determines her present and her future. "In future I want firstly to finish my studies and surely keep playing volleyball. For now I play in Girls National Team, after I want to play in Junior National team and later in Women National. I want to stay in sport and rise here. And maybe even to play in Europe, if I will be invited," shares her dreams Puerto Rico's player.

On the court the favorite position of Alba is defense. "Yes, it is difficult to believe that with my height I like defense, but I do."

And while in volleyball it is great to be so high, there are some difficulties in daily life. Alba told about some disadvantages of being tall outside the volleyball: "People usually look surprised, they cannot understand why I am so tall. They do not see such height as a normal. And also it is difficult to find a boyfriend with such a height because it is difficult to find such a tall boy. And boys do not love so tall girls."

Alba's family supports her passion to volleyball and her playing for the National team. "My brother is also a sportsman'. He plays for Basketball National Team, he was taken there also due to his height and for now he is the tallest in his team."

  • Any livestream for GER-TUR? Voleybol TV doesn't work...
I see in live score that Germany starts without both main MBs, and there is only one replacement for them. One of the regular OPPs, Aulenbrock or Besa, must be playing MB instead. I don't know what's up with the main MBs, one of them injured her ankle before the Italy match but it wasn't serious then, she could play that match.

  • I've been able to watch the 2nd set on voleybol, so maybe now you'll be able too.
And yes, I've noticed the MB-issue as well: Besa is playing opposite to Schwertmann, and I'm wondering what's happened with Langgemach and Keil...
Anyway, it seems like, thanks to a great block & defense system, Turkey is going towards an easy straight sets victory... 8-0 in the 3rd... ;(

  • Turkey is playing with 21 opponent errors and Germany with only 3.That's the diffrence probably.Hope our Senior team is watching our youths, they might take some lessons from this team  The best generation of turkish volleyball i have ever watched, both starting & bench players.Ece Hocaoglu is playing with 12 points (6 Attack,5 Block,1 Serve)

2011/2012 Eczacıbaşı VitrA - Super Cup Winner :cup:

  • Apart from the changes in the team's chemistry (they ended with Barber, who - as far as I know - is an OH, playing as OPP), the German's girls in the 3rd set seemed very concerned about Turkey's blocks: trying to avoid them they began missing the shots on their own, which partly explains the numbers you gave us.
However, congrats to the Turkish girls: a very impressive group!

  • Poland 3-1 Japan
    Turkey 3-0 Germany
    Serbia 3-2 Brazil
    China 3-0 Argentina

Now after Poland and Serbia's victories only China and Turkey didnt lose a game yet but 2 days after one of them will lose too  Group F is open to unexpected results.
