  • Drawing of lots for 2012 World Club Championships September 2

The drawing of lots ceremony for the 2012 World Club Championships will take place in Doha, Qatar on September 2 at 19:00 local time.

The Women’s Tournament will consist of two rounds with 10 matches in total – six in the preliminary round and four in the final.

The teams will be divided into two pools composed of three teams each. The teams will play a round robin tournament to determine their ranking, and the third-ranked teams in each preliminary pool will be eliminated – both will be classified as fifth-place finishers.

The team ranked first in each pool after the preliminary round will play against the team ranked second in the other pool in the semifinals. The losers of those matches will then play for third and fourth places, while the winners play for first and second.

The men’s tournament will be 16 matches, also organised into two rounds. The preliminary round will account for 12 matches, and the final will have four.

Again, two pools will be formed – this time of four teams each. The teams will play a round robin tournament to determine the ranking, and the teams ranked third and fourth in each preliminary pool will be eliminated and all classified as fifth-place finishers.

As in the women’s competition, the team ranked first in each pool after the preliminary round will play against the team ranked second in the other pool in the semifinals. The losers of those semifinal matches will play for third and fourth places while the winners play for first and second.

  • Burak, they might play, cause they were already in the Paulista Games yesterday, only Jaque was not inside court, but Sheilla, Thaisa, adenisia and Garay were, so, they will probably play.

  • I see that comments  what? Fenerbahce is one of the biggest Clubs in the World. They second time played in Doha, in Semis you know ?!?!? They beat Kenya and Puerto Rico

I am sure that Fenerbahce rather wants to play against Uralochka (last decade's most accomplish team) but in present time Uralochka is incapable of qualifying in a world stage tournament. It is sad really!!!!

  • As predicted, Osasco won easily their first match today against Club Desportivo Venezuela (that is actually from paraguay..go figer)

    25/11, 25/06 and 25/10

Only Jaque, from the Olympics, didnt start the game. But with time, Osasco start replacing everyone. Ivna was the biggest scorer of the match, with 12 points.

  • Osasco was perfect in Brazilian league,so they're definetly not going to have ANY problems with teams from Argentina and Chile etc. but I think if they played like last year at the end of the season(with Hooker and Jaque in top-form) they could even challenge European clubs, maybe even beat them !

  • Sollys/Nestle 3–0 Boca Juniors: 25-15, 25-18, 25-9

    1.Sollys Osasco Nestle

In fact I think Osasco's team can beat any team in the world. And now they are even stronger in service reception with Garay on court:

    Sheilla - Fabiola
    Jaqueline - Fernanda Garay
    Thaísa - Adenízia
    Camila Brait

This is almost Brazil's NT which won the 2012 London OG.

Adenizia was a sub in this roster. Fabiola is Brazil's team third setter. Camila Brait is Brazil's team second libero.

If the Osasco's gir could maintain their physical form, I would say they are favourites for winning this tournament.
