2013 World Grand Champions Cup for Women

  • 4 years ago FIVB gave Wild Card to Champion Egypt in Men's event as easy bite for Host.

    Curious if now in Women's event Japan will risk and will give Wild Card to Korea with Kim or to Kenya.

    Why Korea? I'd rather give it to China, the best ranked team after Italy, or Germany.

  • The tournament is in Japan so FIVB gives Wild Cards for Teams who Japan may beat easily.

    Korea with Kim may be dangerous, China for sure won't get, Kenya is ideal :D

  • Kenya will not be going. There has never been an African women's team in the tournament and I doubt that they'll put that weak of a team in this "small event (number of teams)".

    It will be either China or South Korea due to the following:

    1. Rivalry
    2. Competitive Matches between these teams
    3. Familiarity

    That is probably why the South Koreans were chosen before as the wild card.

  • Bartek, you're so rude. Are you king of the volleyball world?
    Because Poland always gets wild cards unfairly, it's normal that you can not understand other countries' situations.

  • For sure You are clown of volleyball world :lol: 2 Teams from Africa- joke which made laugh in Everyone who read that.

    I don't need your vollayball forum. You -professors of volleyball- countinue laughing. I will not be here anymore. I can't stand people like you. Selfish, toughtless and much more thing like these.

  • wild card goes to Italy (bi-WC champion) ?

    it makes sense when Brazil (bi-OG champion) and Russia (bi-world champion) have qualified...

    i may not be the tallest,
    the fastest, or the strongest,
    but at least i can do one thing better than anyone else,
    to be me...

  • I don't think there is any official info about the wild card...

  • It's fake :roll: Mister F_BERGAMO... sorry, F_PICCININI forgot to put USA into the schedule, oopsie.

  • There's a news in FIVB's website: http://www.fivb.org/viewPressR….asp?No=42899&Language=en

    No info about a wild card like in previous editions. Are you sure there's a wild card for this year?

    Yes, there is clearly said there will be 6 teams:

    The FIVB Volleyball World Grand Champions Cup features a total of six teams per gender with the hosts Japan being joined by the continental winners from Asia, Europe, NORCECA and South America with an additional country selected by the FIVB. Africa do not have an automatic spot in the tournament after finishing the 2012 Olympic Games as the lowest ranked confederation amongst the five.

    It's on the link you posted:

  • wild card = additional vacancy selected by FIVB or tournament organisor/sponsor cosidering a variety of factors, including professional promoting, commercial advertising & entertaining, spirit encouraging etc.

    we have some candidates here,

    1. Korea - Asia 3rd place, London OG Top 4, Kim YK;
    2. Domnican rep. - Norceca 2nd, American competitive representitve;
    3. Italy - bi-WC champion, highest world ranked team yet qualified;
    4. Germany - Euro 2nd;
    4. Kenya - african champion;
    5. Poland - top automatical selection, most wild card holder.

    as WGCC, Continental results and WR shall be well counted, IMO

    therefore, Belgium, Euro 3rd place, widely called most improved european team 2013, has less chance even compared to Germany, so i would rather put GER in the list
    China has no chance at all as 4th of Asia 2013 and without dominante WR.

  • Italy or Germany should go.
    Korea? Not again.
